First time casting small bullets. After cleaning and heat cycling it was dropping good bullets on the third pour. I’m thinking this Ruger will be lots of fun!

Mine seems to like that bullet and 3.5 gr of HP38. Pretty quiet, no recoil, and plenty accurate. Why shoot anything else?

Thanks Waco! Brad that’s the 1st load I’m going to try. It really is a nice looking bullet and they rain from that mold. Probably the best of all my NOE molds.

Mine casts really well too. Just wish it was more than 3 cav.

Mine's a 5 cavity. With the choices we have today I tend to favor 4 to 5 cavity molds.

He was out of stock on 4 and 5 cav when I got mine or I would have a 5 cav too.
So much faster to cast a bunch of bullets with larger numbers of cavities.

I think you will be very happy with how that bullet shoots for you.

Went out a few days ago to try my newly acquired SP101. Bullet is 117 grain Ranch Dog 32/20 which is my favorite plinking bullet in all kinds of rifles. I used 3.2 and 3.8 grains of Red Dot and 8 grains of Blue Dot to give me a nice spread of velocities. HUGE velocity variances with each load, though they shot tin cans better than you'd expect from those velocity variations (sd's of 45 or more!). Have you chrono'd your HP 38 load Brad?

Also was interested to see that velocities of the Red Dot were way under the "QuickLoad" predicted velocities (like 150 fps) but the Blue Dot velocities were very close to predicted. Red Dot averaged 790 fps for the 3.2, 880 for the 3.8, and 8 grains of Blue Dot gave 1230 fps out of the 4" SP101. But as I say, those were the averages but the spreads were horrible. Gonna' be a fun shooter but I have some more load playing around to do.

I also use that NOE bullet for my SP101 327 ruger.I use it with Bullseye in a 327 case with FedSP match primers for a velocity on 850 fps. out of my Sp's 4 inch barrel.I use a Burris FFIII om my gun and get 1.5 inch groups at 25 yards. It is a very nice shooting load.
