5 cavity 30 cal. NOE , 190 gr. G/C Mould

I have many single cavity and two cavity moulds. However, when
it comes to “ production “, a 5 cavity mould can really turn out the bullets.

I’ve always liked “ bore riders “ in my .30 cal. rifles. I recently obtained this one from Al at NOE Bullet Moulds. It is a wonderful mould, and I’m very pleased with it. All the “ numbers “ on the drive bands and nose are about perfect for my needs. This one should shoot well in my .308 Win. rifles and my many 30/06 rifles. Not a thing wrong with one and two cavity moulds, but my 13 yr. old grandson can go through a lot of loaded .30 cal. ammo on a range trip. When you cast a few hours with a mould like this one, you’re going to end up with a lot of cast bullets.

Doesn't take very long with a 5 cavity to accumulate a lot of bullets.

It's a beauty, Ben!

I know I should try something heavier and a bore-rider in my 30-30 Contender Carbine, but I'm stuck on the two bullets I use now. I've not had a chance to shoot them at 100 yards, so maybe they aren't as great that far out and I will eventually go heavier/longer.

I've been replacing my 1C and 2Cs, slowly, with 4C aluminum. It DOES make a world of difference in keeping up. I mostly go with the 4Cs mostly because I can have one for just under a hundred bucks. Lifting one more bullet from the spout to the "landing pad" wouldn't hurt me, but it's just kind of a convenient budget objective to save up that even hundred bucks.

t design is made to fit a 308Win throat that I had chambered for my Savage. It was my version of the mp30 sil bullet. Al told me how he called it the hunter. One of his friends used it in a 3006 and had a bang flop with a mule deer using it.

That is a fine-looking bullet. I have become very fond of 180 grain and heavier cast bullets in the 30-06. My favorite load is the Lee C309-200 bore rider atop a full case of WC-860 powder (60.0 grains) and lit by a Fed #215 primer. It clocks +/- 2000 FPS, has a deep throaty BOOM report, and will hold 1.5 MOA at 100 and 200 yards. Recoil from the bench is a mite stout, but I still have 20 of these loads put up as Bruce B Soft Points from the Old Days in Kalifornistan when lead bullets were not verboten for game taking.

Good looking design! Put a little larger metplat on it and I'd think it would replace my beloved RCBS 30-180 FN, which drops 190 grs+ in my alloy.

Good question, but I already have a 2 cav. plain base in the same design so I guess I'll leave this one g/c only. By the way, many call this one " The Hunter ".

Have not had to lube one yet.

My friend has killed 4 deer with this Accurate 212 gr. bullet out of his 30-06.
He says, " They don't take a step, they just hit the ground."

A bit heavy for the 30-30 class IMO, but it would no doubt work within the ranges where excessive drop isn't a factor...which I'll bet is the majority of hunting range for most of us that aren't "Hail Mary" type hunters.

Ben...I found one of those in a box of molds I just bought. I never got around to looking at all of those in the box. Sure enough there it was a brass 311-190 fn ak4. Brand new so I suppose I shall have to prep it to cast up a few. I bought the whole box for $100 and there eight in it. Their were 6 lyman,1noe and 1 accurate molds. I was only really bidding on the lyman molds. I guess I made out ok.
