ATTENTION!! 1 Skunk WAS Harmed in the making of this Bullet Lube

I have been wanting to try this for quite sometime but I haven’t had enough “Alone at home” Time to try it, and get everything Cleverly Cleaned up. This was back in the Fall, My wife had went on Vacation to the Wa Coast, My opportunity to try this was KNOCKING This Country is FULL of Skunks, i have Trapped 15 of them here in my Backyard in Town.

Split straight down the Back Bone from Base of Head, to Base of Tail, Skin each side over, Then Trim all the Fat Off. They are FAT this time of Year Pay close attention When your knife reaches the South end of this Deal, Things could go Wrong in a HURRY You can actually see the Glands “Lift up” I left the Fat alone in that Immediate area, I decided i had enough

I made me a Home made Double Boiler setup. If my wife knew i was using her BRAND NEW Kitchen Range for this Project, The possibility was high that I would be looking for a new Place to Hang my Hat This is the main reason her Being on Vacation made this the PERFECT Day! She Wasn’t to be Home til Late this Night, And If all went well (No boil overs ) The Job would be Done, Mess all Cleaned up, Nobody would EVER know this had taken place, I wasn’t gonna say a word about it

And the Finished Product, Just a Pinch of Beeswax and Lanolin to “Tack it up” This Stuff is SLICK, and works REALLY WELL I have used it as a Patch Lube for Roundball, and Lube Grooves For Muzzleloader Bullets. I have Shot some impressive Groups with this Lube, it’s Good Stuff

Don't do it ! Them things are as bad as lever guns .
It starts all innocent with a faux Hawken cap lock , but it's lonely so you get it a Philly darenger or a pirate pistol or something in between . Then you get to thinking about a 58' , 60' Walker or Dragoon , all the while there's a little voice saying if you have a flint lock you don't need caps . Then you start thinking about shotguns , Fowler's , Mule ears , side hammers , under hammers , and carbines . Eventually you buy/build one really nice long rifle ....... Not that I know anything about that .

All of the above may even leade you down the dark path of making small batch BP , screened , and eventually corned via press puck , burr grinder and sorting screens . The joys of paper , pillow ticking , animal/veggie lubes , and your powder against T7 , Pyro , Goex , Old Ensford ..... Knapping may even become a hobby , hobby of the hobby unless you're lazy and go sawn flint ........

Yeah....challenge not accepted Rick. I even squeezed a grizzly bear once for some fat to test. D-O-N-E.

I wonder if skunk grease makes good pastry?

The absolute truth! The Cracklings smelled good enough to Eat, But i wasn’t hungry enough to Try any :) Rendered Bear Lard was HIGHLY PRIZED for Pastry, Pie Crust Back in the Day.

I caught a little Flack/Ribbing on the Muzzleloader forum for doing this, One Ole Boy asked if I REALLY Thought it worked that well? I told “Most definitely it does! My results clearly show it” There was a Day went by with NO REPLY, The next Day i had a PM from this Same Fella, Wanting to know how much i’d Take for a Tub of it? I just about lost it!

Heheh, people are funny like that. Skunks around here are skinny, mild winters and so forth they don't have to pork up. If something works, then it works. Proof of the puddin' is in the eatin' and you sure enough got a good lube worked out there.

I have it on good authority that skunks love Lay's potato chips.
now we all know you can't eat just one, but a little 5 lb skunk can eat an entire bag of them in one night.
if you got skinny skunks you should be able to fatten them up in about 2 weeks by feeding them chips.
then don't feed them one night and the next put the chips in the trap.

yeah, there was like 6 jokes and a pun or two I could have thrown in there.
