Not Your Father's 30-30 Winchester!

I just found this thread after I mailed one of my Lee-Enfield #4s off to be rebarreled and rechambered for 30-30 Win. I'm hoping to build it into a nice short carbine that's as easy to get ammo for as my Winchester 94 but I can use Spitzer bullets instead of the older RN or FN designs.

That may be nice....Keep us posted!
I will. The gunsmith (he's actually a lawyer) normally builds Palma Rifles for the US National Long Range Team so he's doing this as a BIG favor and an experiment of his own.
I had to adjust the feed lips of the magazine, trim the length of the follower in the back and put a spacer in the mag as well to handle the shorter bullet but the rim diameters are almost identical and the bolt picks up and feeds and extracts the 5 dummy rounds I built with Lyman 311413 bullets so its a matter of getting the old barrel off and the new barrel threaded to fit.
