OK, Ben, You've Gotten Me Started!

Funny I should see this thread today.

I asked my wife for a curling iron case for Christmas. I think she thought I might have gone gender fluid....

But it was really for my Lee Hand Press! I went out to the garage to find my press this afternoon and it fit pretty good.

I saw this case on a forum a few months back and clipped the Amazon link. I think it was less than $15.

I can't hope to haul all the goodies I have seen on this page, but it makes a nice little padded case that should fit a couple sets of dies if packed carefully.

Thanks for the discussion! I'm already reviewing my portable kit, and picking up a few more things at midway to make it a little more user friendly. I guess it really boils down to one's use case. I already use my portable kit as a "range development" kit... which is handy and fun. But i can totally see transforming it (by adding or subtracting "kits") into a full "reloading in the sticks" sorta kit... which can be useful if i'm out at a friends ranch, showing them the basics on reloading.

Thanks again!

The per-caliber sub-kits make sense that way. I like the idea. I may plan for such with mine, now that I see your purpose. If I put together a 44 Special and 222 kit, I could grab-n-go with whatever gun(s). That would make me redundant on all the die sets I still use except the 223, and I just don't use that one much anyway.

That's a bunch of extra cash tied up in redundant dies, but now that I've been liquidating the guns I don't use, it's a good place to reinvest, and I'm having much more fun this way too.

Keep the ideas coming. If you have other preferences, please share. I'm hoping that someone who does not handload yet figures out that they don't have to wait until they can afford a progressive setup.

Dang, man! I love that idea! It's almost made to order. Don't worry bout the gender-fluid thing. I used one of my wife's old purses as a shooting pouch for my muzzle-loader for a short time, just until I had time to make one - until she shamed me into just buying a proper leather shooting pouch.

It's time we closet repurposers come out of the closet and stake our claim to a place in the shooting world!

EDIT: I just realized that @Dusty Bannister suggested a HUNTING sock, not a GUN sock. Not sure why my mind went that direction but I like either idea.

By the way, thanks go to @Ben, not me. I'm just following his lead and he was the one who got me off center to put together a kit of my own. He used a plastic toolbox, which may suit others more than the soft bag I chose, especially with the tool tray and clever die storage.

For lurkers who might not have the experience and background of the members here, I'm including some links relative to the topic which might induce someone to stop just watching and start doing. I put together an article on this to share with a friend and a nephew whom I'm mentoring a bit. I included these links for them and thought maybe others may be interested too.
