I love these threads, until I don't know the answer. A friend of mine for this in a lot of reloading equipment he bought. It sort of looks like a primer pocket sort of tool, except that it isn't. A sort of spring loaded, steel brush thingamajig. It appears to be stamped "30 06".

Powered primer pocket cleaner?

Chuck the other end into a drill-motor chuck, insert case head into recess, turn on drill-motor and push....

Or, attach to a motor shaft and leave running. use the "wings" surrounding the spring to keep that part from spinning, insert case head, push...

Unless yioiur thumb is as big aroiund as my wrist, looks like no more than a 223 case might fit in that recess though.

Looks like someone solved the problem of the bristles fraying and bending. Looks like a cast part, which likely isn't a home-gamer's one off, but it's odd that none of us so far have ever seen one before.

yeah primer pocket tool.
looks like the case head sat on top and the bristles got pushed in from the back.

Or, cast part for some completely different application, that the friendly neighborhood reloader/machinist repurposed into a pocket cleaning tool. The hand stamped 30-06 is what leads me in that direction of thought.

Yep, several on eBay right now. They were made to be run with a 1/4 drill motor. Put your fingers on the wings, or in a vise, and push in with the case.

Yes there are, and everybody was correct except me! The guy who has it didn't think it would work well for cleaning primer pockets, so we both overlooked the obvious .

Thanks to all! "Likes for everybody" but me!

Yeah, I thought it was a primer pocket cleaner, too, but he said it wasn't, so that prompted my previous post.

I don't have the words to say how much I appreciate you guys putting up with such a dummy as me.
