i have a older lyman furnace that i bought with a bunch of other stuff. it is completly rusty and i am going to restore it. high temp paint and re-blue ect . i want to remove the bottom pour spout. can i do that and if so, how. my guess is that it would be threaded in. sorry i can't do pictures. it is 10# i think and has a square "control" box

I don't have a clue, but if it is well rusted, I doubt you'll get it out without getting it up into the red hot stage if it's threaded in. Do you have oxy/acetylene available?

i thought since i had it apart that i would remove the spout and lap it in the lathe using the stem that plugs it. i think i will leave it alone

I'd get it cleaned up and see if it leaks before I fixed something that wasn't broken. IME the Lyman/SAECOs aren't the leakers the Lees are at all.
