Old man moment

Oh yeah. And that extends to friends as well. More times than I care to remember, I'll be telling someone about something that broke or wore out and I doubt I'll find another only to have the listener or someone overhearing the conversation say, "Gee, I just threw one of those in the trash last week. Nobody wanted it.".

I just told my brother, who brought me a Rolling Block in 7x57, that I thought I had dies but had no idea where they were.

He replied "because you gave them to me."

He's two years younger, so HE remembered. Now, I just have to make sure I get them back before two years passes or HE'LL forget that HE has them.

I had a 100 yard tape measure, the reel kind. Had it for years. Went to use it one day, couldn't find it. Looked for a couple weeks, called people I might have lent it to, interrogated the kids repeatedly, looked where it shouldn't have been, emptied shelves and cabinets and checked in field trucks. Never found it. Bought a new one. One day, years later, an Amish guy who did some work on my barn, (and never did finish it although he got paid!), stopped by and told me he found my tape that he had borrowed years before at his house some 15 miles away and that I was welcome to stop by and get it. I never lent him the tape!!! He just figured since it was where it could be seen, (IF you went into my shop and moved some stuff!!!!), he might as well borrow it!

I cleaned up a while back , just the little stuff , all the pill bottles of decapping pins , most of the loose dies , and related parts .
I bought 2 Lee ram prime tools and had a large and small ram set up and put all the not in use parts in the tackle tray box so when the post got pulled out and the cup and spring went walk about I knew I had the bits ........ I even looked in the box where they should have been ....... Yeah listen you can lose parts in a confined tray , all you have to do is put the 3×5 card bag of Lyman decapping pins on top of them . 16 days ........

Under my bench in my so called "reloading room" there are shoe box type containers of all sorts of stuff. Every now and again I go through them and find stuff I'm sure I never, ever saw before! I also run across stuff I'm sure I put someplace else decades ago.

What is it they say about Alzheimers? "At least you get to meet new people every day." I'll pass thanks!

Trying to remember where I put a white tall kitchen garbage bag of 20 guage shells right now.
I don't have many things that size stored because of lack of space. And getting my storage cleaned out so I have one less payment. I should just trip over it looking. But no.....
I had my wife in FITS looking for the kitchen garbage bags!!!!!! So she asked me. I said garbage can. She thought I was being a usual smart arse..

So week later she asked again with a smart comment about not being a ass... So I showed her... the entire roll was at the bottom of the garbage can!! Take full bag out. BINGO there is replacement starin at ya!! No looking searching or needing to store them some place.

I'm laughing at I type this. Good idea about storing them there. But I'm sure my wife would never have found them either. Or she might have found them when she pulled out the full bag, thought I had a senior moment, taken them out and put them back in the cabinet.

I keep my tools and reloading stuff pretty well organized and labeled. My biggest senior moments seem to come when my legs move, like when I go to my shop to get a tool to fix something in the house! Some how I manage to find ten things to do before I get to the house/ shop then forget what I went there for originally! I’m good if I stay in that room, but walking out the door I seem to enter a whole new realm! My dog (Cash) running around my feet on the way might also be some of the distraction, he instantly finds a stick for me to throw,

That's an old school custodians trick, or at least that's where I learned it!

We laugh about our 'old' poor memory. We're in pretty good shape compared to those with Alzheimer's or dementia though. Consider ourselves fortunate.
Amen brudda! Watched my FIL go through that. Calling it a living hell isn't far off from absolutely accurate.

Thats where I got it from!!

I spent ten years in a hospital Engineering dept, we went to zone management under a new director last few years I was there. So I went from 3-4 guys to a couple dozen house keepers, 3/4 maintenance guys and a security guard in each of my three buildings... The house keepers couldnt carry enough bags, so this is what they did and it stuck!! ;)
