i citristriped the stock(original but cut) . there was split in the forend. it needed four wooden dowels, some wood glue and wooden handscrew clamps to do it. i steamed the stock(iron steamer) 4 or 5 times to take the dings and scratches out, but there are some that were deeply scratches. i then sanded 220,340 and 400 grit. i then put bentleys dark oil wood filler and when it dried, then 400gr and then bronze wooled and cheesecloth it. i put on 6 or 7 coats of minwax antique oil and then a coat of johnson's' paste wax.

in the next week or two, i have another 91 argentine X-mas present (that will be oldest son's) that i'll take a picture or two of it. that girl needed some werk too!!!!!!!

I done one of these up for Littlegirl years back and she took her first couple of deer with it.
she still manages to sneak it out 1-2 times every year loaded up with the copper tubing/cast hybrid bullets I made back then to mimic a pretty hot 30-30 load.

I still remember the ridicule I got on Boolits when I presented the process and then finally the outcome.
pretty much everyone but Bullshop said it wasn't a workable plan, the bullets would squirt the core ,blah, blah, blah.

wap thud was all I ended up hearing.

Awesome Todd! Good project..
If it's wood, carpentry, building of about anything, I can do it, and fairly well. But. When it comes to guns, I find someone who knows what there about.

i USED to be a shade tree  "gunsmith", but my stroke doesn't let me. i can still replace triggers, safety and the like but i don't d&t, bend the bolt handle, put on new barrel, blued steel or cut steel anymore. that is the providence of a true gunsmith. so i give it to my gunsmith. on a plus note, he luvs the old rifles too.

stock werk i can do. stock building however, is best left to the professionals. i use richards micro stock ( http://rifle-stocks.com/ ) if it comes down to that. i have a 98 mauser (1944) in 8x57 that stock was bad enuff(black mold and the stock channel was bent to the left) so i did a richards left hand/right action wolverine stock in black walnut grade A fancy.
