Ever have a moment where you wondered how you missed something?

Things like not noticing a mould casts both plain base and gas check bullets? And wondering why checks are a real pain to seat?

I know someone who has. And it isn't me. But I caught it.

Why no, i've never done anything like that before. I didn't walk around the house looking for my cell phone the other night while i was talking on it at the same time either...Duh!!!

I once errr... I knew a guy who couldn't find his comb after showering in a truckstop. I uhh... he went out to buy a new one and was told he had a comb stuck in his hair.

I have decapped my finger a time or two. If you've done it you know what I mean.

I've been bit by a decap pin or two. Tried to cut a half moon from a few fingers between a case mouth and die bottom.

I have decapped my thumbnail bad enough it bulged the bottom of my thumb, RCBS pins are too long for their own good.

In my case of not noticing that the mold had plain base and gas check, it was purely a case of head in dark spot. I have also cut some quarter moon chunks off of my fingers. Happens to the best of us I guess. Have yet to decap any portion of my finger, and hope not to, has to be a slow heal.

Ever have that moment when you wonder why your Lyman SC hollow point mould just won't seem to fill up? There's that period of fog while the mind tries to sort out the paradox...right until you see the HP spud sitting on the bench in front of you. DOH! Then there's the thing that happens when you re-apply sprue plate lube and forget to shuck the bullets out before refilling...makes for a very short pour to just refill the sprue wells.

Ian, I water drop most every thing I cast. When I cast HP's, I fairly often (at least once or twice a casting session) find my HP pin in the bottom of my water pail. Been doing it for years that way, some old dogs really don't learn new tricks. However, dropping the pin keeps me humble, and that I find is something to be.
