I really enjoy shooting the 45 ACP in my Brazilian Smith 1917. ANd 45 AR in it also. I have the 45 Convertible BH, but I rarely ever shoot any 45 ACP in it.

Some say ( in their opinion ) that a revolver should use a rimmed cartridge.
I've shot 9 mm Luger and 45 ACP in revolvers without a problem.
And let me add, very accurately also.

I guess it is like other aspects of the shooting sports, opinions will carry a lot of weight.

If I have a pistol in the same caliber the revolver gives me choice of shooting up lower powered rounds, mistakes, or leftovers from ammo testing.
would I prefer a case with a rim?
yeah... they are just so much easier to work with.

Thirty or so years ago S&W made a version of there J frame with it's concealed hammer in 9mm. I wanted one then and still do.

I’m indifferent?
A revolver has the advantage of never having to bend over to police your brass. An auto has the advantage of far more rounds per fill up.
I am often far less interested in the cartridge than the platform.

I love my single-action convertible. Instead of loading two kinds of .45 Colt ammo for fun and business I just load heavies and for fun-type shooting grab the ACP cylinder scoop a can full of 200-grain SWC .45 ACP out of the practice ammo bucket.

I love cartridge flexibility .
If I could shoot 380,38 Auto/super, 38 S/L , 38 / 357 , 9×19,21,23,25 or 45 GAP , ACP , Rowland , Cowboy , Schofield , Mag , Colts and 454 in one pistol , and it felt more like a RBH or Sec 6 and less like that RedHawk I'd be a happy camper . Disclaimer I know of the super RH but it takes proprietary clips and it doesn't feel right .

As for the 38/357 there are a couple around and they all want different clips . There is a rare exception that has an ejector that catches the rimless cases . Now collectable and way out of my price point .

I like most cartridges out of most guns. I don't get picky until my hard earned $ is being asked for...then the list gets narrowed.;)

I sold a 4 5/8" .45 Colt Blackhawk, to subsidize the purchase of the .45 ACP Randall. Now, I'd like to have a 4 5/8" .45 Colt/.45 ACP Blackhawk.

So, to answer Ben's question: I like them.

Personally, I don't see the point. Especially, if one is a reloader. Can download any straight walled revolver cartridge to meet the velocities of tapered pistol cartridges, using similar bullet weights.

I would never find use for a 45 ACP cylinder for my 45 LC BH.....even if I loaded for 45 ACP. Likewise, for a 9 mm cylinder/357 convertible. Have plenty of firearms chambered for those calibers. I make it a point to only shoot 357's out of my magnums. If I want to shoot 38's , I grab a thirty-eight.

Yes, I like them. I don't care for chasing brass at all. That's the big reason. The 45ACP does what I want out of my Ruger and Smith. That being said, I far prefer 45 AR in the Smith just because it's easier. FOr me it's the brass issue that decides it. Maybe if I shot at a range where finding you brass wasn't a big deal it would be different.

Love those Smiths and Tylers Strawhat!!!!

I agree with Winelover. What little pistol cartridge shooting I have done in my Ruger BH's with 9mm and 45 ACP have been to see how they work, nothing regular. I did shoot a new S&W 9mm Performance Center revolver and it was nice, accurate and I shot it well, but I would never buy one.

Oh, yes--I like 45 ACP rounds from a revolver. Since the S&W Model 625 arrived here a few months ago, I have been steadily shooting A BUNCH of rounds through it, and I have a nice pile of both 45 ACP and 45 A/R brass all tumbled and ready for refill. Lots of fun, and you don't get beat up like 44 Magnum loads are wont to do.
