I saw White Oak Armament had a SPR barrel in stock today. It is the fluted model with a mid length gas 1-8 tw and a 223 wylde chamber. I had to have it. now I will need to order some more parts to put an upper together or sacrifice one of the ones I have now.

Fun stuff!!

I have a upper/forend/handguard on top of a safe now for a few months not knowing where I wanna go with it. Something will trip my trigger one day.

Good luck I have read some good things about those barrels!

Last one I assembled was a 450. Bushmaster. I have had a bolt for a while. I believe I just finished making it a hunter. I had a few problems most I caused. But bad magazine was last issue.

I considered the 300 HamRR.
I briefly considered the 6.8 spc just sold off all the brass I had.

I have a 25/45 Sharps and a 6.5 Grendel. Of coarse the regular offenders like 223&300.

The magazine issue was our real baffler i or 450 Bushy. Had a great single shot. Then got a correct follower and cut the front edge down.
So now we have a working 5 shot. I will get an adjustable gas block though.

Mike,
Where did you get your follower at? Haven't fired my .450 yet, and was looking at magazines. Kind of spendy, so I'm now looking for the follower, and will cut down the front of a couple of my 20 rounders.

I considered it but ejection was always 100%. Feeding and cycling where my issues. Cycling was my bad. Mixed springs caused that issue. Then crappy add on fowler followed by modified 556 mag now proper mag and good bolt stop/release. Last was polish up "god mag" and adjust follower. Now its good! What kept me going was how well this crap bear creek barrel can shoot!!

I am going to have to research the follower. It was a 3D home producer. I hope I still have the receipt....

I suggest you not fiddle with followers. The 556 mag is enough different to cause issue in some guns. Buy a Tromix or C Products Lancer, e-lander or even a Wilson. Specific built 450/458 magazine.

CW 's advice about a real 450 Bushy mag has merit.
But I bought our follower from alexmercer1410 on ebay back at 12 May 2021. I looked and he no longer makes them but there must be 10 others who do.

Was it one of the freebees the gentleman down in south Texas was giving out?

Feeding and function is one of the primary reasons why I chose the .458 Socom over the .450 Bushmaster for my big-bore AR. That and the faster twist of the .458 which is actually designed for subsonic 500-grain bullets. The cartridges single-stack neatly in the magazine and shoulder angle/placement and neck diameter all maintain virtually .223 feeding angles and function perfectly with no magazine modifications whatsoever. A centered follower is available but I have found it totally unnecessary.

Long trip today. Ran up to Milwaukee and hit up a couple of meat lockers and ran down to Kenosha to our favorite Italian grocery store and deli.

Hopefully this week I want to get out and shoot this. I am going to start off breaking the barrel in with cast bullets. I have almost 500 65gr MP bullets ready to go that are over a year old. Nice and aged. I have another 500 that are ready to go but are 4 months old. I have some people on a forum that are telling me I am nuts and I will never be able to get over pistol caliber speeds and I am going to completely lead up my barrel. LOL!!!!

Finally got out today to test some loads. I found out I need a higher power scope. The 20x is just not cutting it anymore. No matter how I tried to adjust the focus and the parallax I could not get the image to be clear.

BUT!!! I ended up with two loads that shot under 1/2" One was actually a 0.33" And with a powder that I have A LOT of. TAC. And a 60gr VMAX. Pretty much everything shot right at an inch. And I feel if I could see a little better the groups would improve even more. I was using 1" paste it stickers for sighting. Going to have to get at least a 24x to see better. I have a vortex viper 6-20 right now and it has been great but over the past few years I noticed that my eyes are going to heck.
