Peep sight recommendations

I have Marlins not Winnys. (Well not 94 Winchester’s) I have all mentioned. I like the steel Redfields and Lymans better then the Williams but they all work just fine. I also have a couple XS peeps. These are a different design but also work and are pretty solid.
I bought a Skinner some years back when they first offered them and I do like them. My single complaint is you cannot leave the base attached like on the others. It’s minor and moot if you never scope one. But Skinners are solid quality.

Back in the 60's the Williams Receiver sights were steel with nice machining! May be one of those

Coming in late here...... but I have an Old 1960s Marlin 336 (35 rem) I will be danged that I could not buy any Receiver sight anymore that would match the factory side drilled holes! Had to go with the williams Top mount ( In the Back Scope mount holes) which put the receiver sight too high for the factory front sight!

I read that quite often about the 336 and 1895s maybe I'm not pushing hard enough or maybe I'm just shooting what the trig layed out the sight plane for in the 1895 . Mine is just about bottomed out and still just a little high with most loads at 100 yd . On mine I had to raise the the OM sight to about the 4-5th step . Might be why I got it so cheap ..... About $100 more than they were going for plus the rebates about 6 weeks later but 6 weeks before that they were 150-200 more so whatever , I'm disappointed that I paid so much but I'm even happier that I got a good barrel , centered sights , even if it is a Remington .

Hummm... that’s a new one on me. I have quite a few receiver sights and have never seen a William like that one. What model is it? Kinda reminds me of a knock off copy.

When you get it , tell us more about it.

I hope it’s not a knock off. I’ll let you know when I receive it.

I've never seen a Williams use stickers, or not have marked adjustments on the vertical before.
I guess that's so you can make your own marks at distance.
as long as it fits, stays where I put it, and repeats I wouldn't care when or who made it.

If all else fail a bracket could be made that uses the existing holes. An L shaped piece using the existing holes with a drilled and tapped bracket on side where an available sight could be mounted. Might see a loss of some windage due to thickness of bracket on side of gun but it would work.

Looks to me like the user added the stickerage. Nice touch. He probably spent a lot of time shooting at different distances and got tired of trying to remember his zero setting. At least he didn't scribe a big mark on the side.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I was thinking what Ian said. Pretty sure you used to be able to get stick stuff like that from Brownells or maybe Midway or someplace. The aluminum looking locking screw for elevation looks like it was added after to a Target Foolproof. But, my memory ain't what it used to be, so maybe they were made like that.

I have never seen a Williams in steel.

I have 2-3 in a box that are steel . Unfortunately they are for M70 and won't play nice except as parts on Mausers etc .

You know it is a funny thing! When I take any of my Receiver sighted rifles to the range I get a lot of stares from the younger folk! Most times they are even afraid to ask.....Most will talk to my buddy Ed ( shooting scoped guns)next to me ... and in the conversation asking him about what I'm shooting! The bigger the "Target"knobs the better... like on my Redfields! Drives them crazy!
