Pick just one load

My best scores at garage sales have been:

Twice I have found 40 plus pounds of large cannon ball fishing weights for $15 and $25.

But, my best score ever is my late 1970’s Sheridan Blue Streak that I paid $7 dollars for!

And, I love finding a few pounds of bent and scratched pewter in the .25 cent box at the curb.

I never seem to find reloading dies or components at a good price. I have seen them a few times but the guy always wants Ferrari prices for Ford stuff!

Gave a guy $0.50 for a hard cover copy of Hell I was there , once .
Dad found good stuff a few times , but it was mostly duplicating what we had .
I did get 50# of shot for $15 , it was $45/25# then .

My new CZ 75 SP-01 Urban Tactical definitely has one load.
Lee 120gr TC powder coated and sized to .358” over 4.0gr Universal with an OAL of 1.045” super accurate. Couldn’t be happier. Tons of fun and cheap to shoot.

How can I trust a guy who can’t even cast bullets all the same color.

Garage sales? That's spelled GARBAGE sales. They all have the same three things here, 1> Worn out baby clothes. 2> Broken toys. 3> Broken Walmart furniture.

I've been to a lot of those type sales also Rick, but then my wife says I need to go look at this sale. Estate sales in the country are the best. Usually a worn out, doesn't want to be there any longer, child of the deceased, running them. They are willing to bargain and like selling volume. The worst, are organized city sales that run annually. Same people, selling the same stuff they had overpriced last year, some still set up from last year, mold and all!

38/357 loads for me fall into the target wc's with 3 gr BE, faster wc's with 3.5 gr BE [Thanks Outpost], the old standby of 358477 over 5 gr Unique downgraded from 5.4 in Lyman 45. The Magnums get the NOE 160 over WC820, Blackhawk gets the 180 WFN over the same and the Rossi Carbine 358156 in 38 brass over 2400 seated out like Skeeter did it. The 20" Rossi eats the same 160 wfn loads.

The old +P load used to be 6 grains Unique. I still shoot a few, usually with 358429 so I can see the difference.

Your 5 gr. load is normally a good one Rex.. And there's nothing wrong with shooting the same stuff over & over. Been doing it for years.

I have been weeding out the 36 caliber revolvers in favor of the ACP. However, I still have a few. When I was carrying them, my load was the DEWC over enough Bullseye to make 900 fps from a 3” barrel, S&W Model 36-1. I also ran some SWC but always came back to the dewc. A couple years back I ended up with a post war (short action) 5” barreled, HD. My go to for that one is Skeeter Skelton’s 358156 load set up in 38 Special cases. It just about duplicates the 38 S&W Special HD load and is a blast to shoot. I need to give the +P+ dewc load a try in the HD. All that weight should make it feel like a cap gun!

the 357 and the 44 mag. dote on herco.
if you can't find data in your semi-modern books use unique data keeping in mind herco is it's slower sister.
BE-86 flip flops between unique and herco speed, and hs-6, or power pistol are also good ones to get data from, they both duplicate herco's burn rate but since they are some new they get attention in the pressure data lab.

herco data is easy to find you just have to look in the right place.
