I see a lot of PID's for sale on Amazon. Is that something I can buy there and hook up to my Lee pro 4 pot?

I don't believe I've seen a "plug-n-play" PID control box for a Lead furnace.
Besides the PID unit from Amazon, you'll need a SSR, "K" type Thermocouple, and maybe a few other things, depending on the design you want to build, like the box, outlet receptacle, plug cord, and some wire...maybe a Circuit breaker and a terminal block.

There is an option PID on Magma Products. Might be worth a look at what they did. From my experience I 'll not go without same.

PID refers to the type of controller itself. These are often sold online for some pretty low prices, but you still have to purchase and assemble everything else. I think my PID cost me a total of $65.00 for parts, then a few hours of time to assemble & test everything. There are kits available, but I've found that the cheapie thermocouples don't last very long, and I buy my parts from Auber Instruments now.

That price sounds about right by the time you figure in plugs, probes and SSR, oh and a decent box. This was my last build. I really like the MyPin TA4-SSR or TA4-SNR. They hold temps very well once the autotune is run. They are also very easy to adjust the temperature on. I really do not like the InkBird pids, I have had issues with the 2 I have tried not holding well. Oh, for us old guys that do not think metric... the MyPin's can be set to support Imperial units.pid.jpg

On page 47 of the 2020 Lyman catalog is a ,"Universal Lube Heater Accessory" There is a list what this gadget fits that includeds the Star sizer. This would be for people like me who lack resources and can, on the right day, break to point off an anvil. That's me.

I got a $20 PID from amazon used for beer making and after getting a heater thermocouple thing and making a plate it works fin for a star sizer, have to watch which you get I made sure I had a F not a C. For my lead pot I made the one from Johnny reloading bench works great

I made mine with a C PID. Works just fine, 5 minutes work and I have a conversion chart to F.
