Points assigned

After an unsuccessful search I was rather wondering about someone explaining this point system. Only thing I found was an infraction could get you 5 points first offense, etc. I not I have 3 points and far as I know haven't screwed up yet. Usually on a forum there are rules posted and I haven't even been able to locate those. Just wondering!

Just found em' I think.

"points" are assigned by the software based on number of posts, number of 'likes' you've received from other members, and probably some other factors. It's supposed to be an indication of credibility and an incentive to post things that will get you "liked", something probably not important to a group of self-actualized adults, but it's there none the less. Now, infraction points are different and I don't think they show up on your profile where the general membership can see them.

I would expect staff to contact anyone who's behaving badly if they find the need to issue an infraction, unlike like MOST other forums where staff just hands them out without explanation or confrontation.

No one has yet been issued any infractions on this forum. Would infractions show on the members profile? I dunno, would need to either wait and see if someone gets any or maybe ask Kevin. If I were to issue infractions I would certainly tell the offender in a PM but would most likely discuss the issue with staff before doing so. Been two members banned so far and both for extremely good reason.

And yes Mike, points are a good thing. Infractions not so much. :D

There are trophy pants and warning points.

Trophy points are assigned bye software and I ignore them. Warning points would be assigned by a mod. Thus far we haven't gotten to that point.

If anyone has questions regardng this please contact me.

Well glad I haven't screwed up. Being the male half of a marriage it wouldn't have been the first time.

On another note noticed something above about PM's and haven't managed to locate that process either.

This software calls them "conversations".
Upper right corner click on "inbox". Start a new conversation , select the person(s) to send it to, and type in message.

The software takes some getting used to. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

Oh yeah, if you get a PM a red box with a number appears by the inbox button. The number is the number of new messages you have.

By the way, you have one now!

I can always issue you an infraction and we can find out.... :D

I would expect that infractions are only visible to the people who receive them and to staff. Considering that Xenforo was developed by people who used to work on vBulletin, and vBulletin keeps them private, my expectation would be that Xenforo does as well.

I'm kinda surprised I haven't gotten any yet. :confused::eek:

If I were to go on an infraction spree, you wouldn't be anywhere near my first, second or third target. All three would be the same person. :D
