California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
Thanks for the reminder, Brad, because I have wandered myself.

Mea culpa.

We've received a lot of positive feedback about the atmosphere here lately (particularly in the 4-years thread) and I'd like to think that is in large part to our simple but all-important policies of no political or religious discussions. This has been a core value since the board's inception as an attempt to learn from the mistakes of boards before us.

The moderators are correct, even though I tend to get hot under the collar on some issues! Keep up the good work!

Sounds like a smart plan. I'll abide. Of you ever go "there", you'll see what a mess it can be. Rants, threats, bannings and so on.

Bah! Trust me, you can get banned without ever talking about politics or religion. I got banned from one place because I defended myself by using the inflammatory (the Mods description, not mine) phrase, "I think I'm entitled to my own opinion based on the facts presented." You can't win sometimes.

I try to keep my texts focused on shooting and casting subjects. I might go a little wide in the general info section, but I do try to cleanse the politics prior to posting.

Lotsa trolls lurking on the other sites...they jump in right away & prey on the triggered.
Hope this site stays as it is...

There are also many appropriate on-line venues for political discussions, political action groups, lobbying, civic duty, and so forth as well as resources for religion-related things. This is a bullet-casting site, with associated, friendly side-chatter. I too hope it stays like it is.

My wife always says that the two subjects you should never discuss in another persons home are politics and religion. I am in complete agreement on this.

Ian is correct. There are tons of other venues to vent about the government and political issues. We prefer to keep them out of this forum because they are very divisive issues and in general lead to harsh disagreements and bad feelings.

Drama is not welcome and political discussions are a Grade A source of drama.

Rootsmanslim,
Look at the reflection in the eye of that lion. It appears to be a native in a canoe, or pram, with a sail on it. Neat picture and saying.

Yeah, but you have to admit, some of the goofy stuff pols do is hilarious! Lets put it this way, thanks to one political personality the "blond joke" is dead!

The quote with the lion is used in Game of Thrones. It is said by Tyrion Lannister.
The ship in the lions eye has a dragon head as a figure head.

Some other sites have to many key board cops!
I got my hand slapped just for a simple suggestion....
I hate guys that think they are somebody behind a key board but no more than a meter reader in real life!
