their Red is fine, it's their black that sucked.

i started with their Red since it was easily available and the other three guys in town that P/C were using it too, no complaints.
now i use it mixed with a dark silver-grey to make a metallic purple doctor pepper can color, or just on it's own.

I've found powder paint for free or at a very reasonable price. Look up powder paint service businesses in your area and visit the shop. Tell them that you have a "hobby" and want some powder paint and would be willing to pay for some. He might have some paint from an old job a customer paid for and it's just laying around. A shop owner gave me three boxes of powder paint like this. Then, I wanted some special colors like clear and gold. He showed me the paint that wasn't used much and gave me a really good price on them. Good luck. I now have more powder to coat all the bullets I will shoot in a lifetime.

@JWFilips how much build are you getting with that clear? I have a bullet that needs a solid .003" diameter increase and I'm only getting about .002" with my usual blue, green, and red.

I don’t get too hung up on small bare spots in pc. Look how much bare lead runs down the bore on a lubed bullet.

I personally don't like bare spots showing on my pc bullets so use the pain on my .38 wadcutter bullets. I don't have to look at the splotches then.

I dont really either unless Im trying to get perfect coverage.
Not really a issue any more. At thins stage I know what works "perfectly" and what might cause issue.

Using a good coating/flowing powder & standing bullets on bases to bake does a fine job of removing voids.

Unless you are really sloppy, the holidays are mostly in the pigment anyway.

None, actually. There's lube/graphite/carbon coating the bore from previous shots. The bire is pretty dry when using powder coated bullets.

I think the only bare spots on my lubed bullets is IN the lube grooves. I can only tell once some bullets begin to show some "patina" or oxidation. Some do get hung up on filling lube grooves when "tumble-lubing," but the lube IN the grooves never touches the bore anyway - at least with bullets having a traditional lube groove. My lube coating is THIN, but it's thorough. Even ones run through the Lyman 45 get a very thin coat of "grease" on the bearing surfaces, as evidenced by the lack of oxidation over time, whereas noses do start to change color.

We shall see soon how I do with bare spots using PC. I'm not gonna lie - I don't like ugly bullets. Mottled bullets may work just fine, but it will bug me.

Anyone know if you can buy Eastwood powders any place but directly from Eastwood? They want $26 to ship ONE pound of powder. I don't mean to be too much of a cheapskate, but I do try to keep an eye on the cash outlay part of casting since I invest time/effort in lieu of cash. "Free bullets" are like "free firewood" - ain't no such thing.

Ian - you try double coating to get the build-up? Just let first coat 'flow' then cool and recoat. Works but you really have to shake to get 2nd coat to stick. Works great if you spray.

So, the initial request was for powder paint. If anyone wants to trade, list your colors. I happen to want one 9mm, 40cal, .38, and .45 MP or NOE hollow point cast bullets each.
