Powder storage question.

Some laws, rules, and regulations are made by people who think they
know things that other folks are to dumb to know.

That's what the books say . How it is applied by location is on someone else .

Yes , the bulk of my immediate reference is in the commercial context , however , the guy that I've been hanging out with since the 4th grade is a local Fire Inspector so I also have sort of a feel for how things get looked at from inspection , enforcement , and doing . As I type this I'm standing about 150 ft from enough materiel to probably raze the average mall to something resembling leach field stone . So materiel handling and storage are in my best interest but 156# of powder and 40# of primers is chicken feed . However T Rex was an over grown chicken and very likely could total a garage looking for a cotton tail . So grain of salt . The idea is to not confine the the gas expansion and not pass the heat , flame or concussion on to another cell or the structure . The modern fridge has a magnetic seal vs a mechanical latch , viola' blow out wall . It is insulated to reduce the heat transfer , bonus points . The average guys and I'm sure there are a couple of over achievers right here won't have much over 70# over marked containers several will be partials and I'd almost bet that that the working cans aren't in the locker with the pre-planned bulk lots . 2 storage cabinets and a working bin at the bench , everyone is pretty much happy as a clam .

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Out here in the sticks there is no "fire inspection". The insurance co came out once in 23 years and asked me to add a sheet metal shield over my basement wood furnace. Thats it. No zoning either. If there's one thing I've learned re-the internet since I got on in 1995, it's that what is bedrock law in one place may not even be a recommendation for best practice in another.

Water will wreck metal or fiber containers, but does no harm at all to powder. Just dry
it out, even if submerged for decades, and it is as good as new. I got this from a friend
in the business with a last name starting with an H.

I live in an apartment. With a few set of rules...... My landlord would have an aneurysm if he looked in the closet where my reloading room is at. Bright side is when i am smelting lead it makes for great conversational peace with neighbors and security.

BE.The story reads that every few years their engineers/chemists pull out a sample and get all jacked up that it's still in spec.
