powder stuck to bullets

I have about 100 cast bullets that are tumble lubed that i pulled. They have a few grain of unique stuck to them along with liquid alox. I am going to run my propane torch over them first to burn the powder off cuzz i don't want it going off as i melt them. Probably just shake 25 or so at a time on a old cookie sheet as i wave the torch over them. Will the alox cause any problems with pot or ladle. Any better idea's? thanks

If all you want to do is clean the bullets before re-melting just put them in a pot of water and boil. Lube will float to the top so just skim it off and your good to go. Also won't need to worry about any powder after soaking.

woa, woa, woa, alox won't do that.

just throw everything including the powder in the casting pot and stir it all in then give it a good fluxing.
meaning light the powder on fire.

Interesting. I've never used liquid alox but I thought boiling water would take if off. The casting pot would be and always has been my solution but it sounded much like he wanted to clean them up first.

Just worried about lead splatter and alox fouling the pot if that's even possible. I got some lead waterline today so i can throw the bullets in the big pot for ingots.

kinda.
alox is used as a waterproofing [undercoating on cars] that's why the water is a bad idea.
it's a burnt cousin to vasoline, buffered with calcium stearate to make it thicker.

if you want to remove the alox first.
heat the boolits up with a hair dryer and wash them in mineral spirits.
take each one out of the M/S and wipe e'm off with a rag, that'll remove the majority of the alox.

Nothing happened to me when I tossed about 90 in a cold pot. Just added saw dust a few times. Never did see a flash from the smokeless powder.

If it were me I wouldn't worry about it. I would add them to the cold pot & start it up. (I would wear goggles as eye protection if I were watching the pot melt)

Would like to clarify my above statement however: It should have read it is all "reductant" isn't it !
See Ian,
I have learned the difference! I will never forget what you taught us across the street!:)

Don't know the count but I routinely throw 7#'s of culls (w/lube) into a cold pot and heat, I've have had no problems (YET).

Most powder has become inert from lube so It should not hurt anything. Maybe a fizzle. I hate to pull a boolit and see the powder there too. But it is not enough to change much. The worst is when a boolit comes all the way out and powder is all over the sides of a boolit too with my sticky lube.
