Answer - -

3,300 pieces of empty 9mm Luger brass ( By the way, I've already got 2K sitting on the shelf " in reserve ". )

The carbine came adaptable to Ruger pistol mags or Glock mags.
I chose Glock. Mine is 101% reliable with any of the 5 or 6 Glock mags I've tried in it.

Involve him in steps, start with safety lecture, cleaning, inspection, sizing and priming. The rounds you have helped load seem to shoot better when you are twelve years old. Also, he'll not been prone to "spray and pray" if his labor is involved.

A good suggestion, but we've already done all of that.

I have considered moving up to a 750 but just can’t part with the money. My 550 still does well enough to keep me supplied.
I will admit that a case feeder has a certain appeal.

just stuff accumulated over the years.
something here something there.

the case feeder messes me up.
i'm so used to the 550's motions which are the same as a Ponsess warrens i keep floating my right hand around trying to find something for it to do.
i finally modified the primer advance wheel on the 650 so i have to flick it manually, that actually sped me up.
with the 750 [which is the 550 feed system] my eyes will move there instead and que me in to focusing on feeling the primer seating in the case.

I can't quite wrap my head around having a fully-progressive reloader. My principal reason is that I don't load hundreds upon hundreds of cartridges in one or two given calibers. My world is made up of 37 calibers and 100-300 count of each. 223 Rem and 9 x 19 I have about 1K-1200 of, ~500 of 40 S&W, and ~800 of 45 ACP. Still, I only shoot 100-200 of those at a sitting, and I can refill that many in an hour using the Ponsness-Warren P-200. The P-200 uses the RCBS/Lyman/Lee dies from my single-stage presses by design.

Dillon makes excellent tools, but they are more tool than my needs can justify.
