The issue is shooting small groups, with military rifles, at 100 yards doing 1900 f/s is you get your clocked clean by the guys shooting 1450 f/s. At the two hundred yard line, the 1450's and 1600's are about even. So far the 300 yard matches are "stand alone" and not part of the match aggregate, so having a special 300 yard load is not a problem. We don't know how it will pan out if we have to shoot all three distances with one load.

Take a torch and a pipe wrench and unwind the barrel one turn, should give you about a 25" ROT and then you can shoot bugholes to 600 yards at 3500 fps.:rofl:

I am the odd man when it comes to casting temperature with a Hoch mould.

I use a RCBS Pro Melt bottom pour controlled with a PID set at usually 640 degrees. I have a steel plate mould support plate that is adjustable for height. I adjust the height of the support plate to give 3/8” gap from the bottom flow nozzle to the top of the sprue plate. I have a knob added to the flow adjustment screw. I adjust the flow rate as the pot level drops. For me the flow rate is “king”.
I cast at 3.8 pours per minute. I hand cut the sprue. I am getting perfect bases. Alloy is mostly linotype. Water dropped at about 20 Bhn .
