Rabbit hole

Yep, I am venturing down the rabbit hole.

I placed an order today for a pound of PC powder from smoke.

I have a few places where I think this will be a positive move. Being able to reduce the grunge in my 9mm would be a plus along with reducing the slight tendency of that gun to lead.

Whatever happens for better or worse I place the blame squarely on Jim. I got much help in the process and all from Waco but I am still blaming Jim. Jim is old enough to know better than to post positive results on a forum full of easily influenced and impressionable youngsters like myself.

Hopefully I can get some bullets coated in a week or so them work to find time to shoot them. I plan to see tart with handgun fodder then work up.

I wanted to try PC in my 9mm do I ordered 2K of them from the dealer on the CB site. I loaded all of them and have shot about 5/600 with no issues. No misfires, no hang-ups, no leading and a cleaner pistol. I was going to PC myself but I may again purchase the PC’ed bullets.

What little PC I’ve done myself were with rifle bullets and I was pleased but I’m old school and love the smell of lube when I pull the trigger(I’m weird that way ;>).

I have switched all my pistol to pc and absolutely have no issue recommending it to anyone!!
I dry tumble and bake it works every time and serves me quite well.
If anyone has questions feel free to pm me.

Nope, she is OK with it. Hell, I used her PayPal account to place the order. With all due permissions of course.

My wife and daughter have both told me I am to never wear pink. Who am I to argue with them?

I use these food storage containers HERE for shake'n'bake.

Reason for using those is they have a seal which doesn't trap the powder and cause it to migrate outside the lip when the lid is opened. These containers HERE will end up making a mess.

Ok guys, BB’s or not? Pro and con?
I do not plan to stand these up to start. I hate fiddly processes and that would qualify.

I use them, it makes a big difference. I'd really like to try some plastic BBs about the size of #8 shot if I could find any.

Picking the bullets with your fingers like Fiver does with latex gloves (coat fingertips with powder before touching bullets) should be easy enough for you. One of the reasons I don't dump and bake on a screen is the powder gets airborne when you collect it and the BBs in a pan under the screen. Breathing the PC dust is a huge health hazard with some of the coatings, probably worse than breathing primer dust, so be careful and wear a good particle mask when handling the stuff. I'm sure you can figure something out to expedite the process and do big batches without getting the powder everywhere.

Would a tray made from some sort of stick resistant plastic (teflon impregnated something-or-other) with bored through holes be useful to stand up bullets on end before baking?

I do not use bb’s and my coverage is very good.
I have tried them and it did not seem to make difference with my powder.
I have used #5 containers and an old brass tumbler.
Both ways worked well the #5 is a less work.

Would it hold up to repeated heating to 400° F? Would the powder coat easily scrape off after baking instead of building up?
