Many say this is the " Gold Standard " of .35 cal. cast rifle bullets.
I won't try to argue that.
It has always shot well for me and been a good killer on whitetail deer.
I had Erik Ohlen hollow point this mould a few yrs. ago.
I wanted a " conservative" hollow point pin depth for the bullet.
I'm happy with this one.

My grandson Trevor, announced a couple of days ago that he wanted to kill a deer with my Ruger #1, 357 Maximum. If he can place the bullet well, this one will do the trick.

Here is a box of factory loaded Remington 357 Maximums.
( I don't think factory ammo is even made anymore )

Here is one of the Remington factory rounds in place for a quick photo.

That is indeed a mighty fine bullet. I used it for several years in long range revolver and it earned me several 40x40 scores. I've been using the RCBS mold for several years but have acquired a 5 cavity aluminum mold from NOE.

For hunting either the FP or the short rounded tip HP spud is absolutely the way to go

I believe it will do the job too.
the key is to see a deer then put the bullet where it will do the job, the rest is camp fire talk.

One of my all Time Favorite calibers! At one time I had 6 firearms so chambered!! Today I have just two and one I picked up this past spring. A Grail for me. Its a Savage 24V 357 Max/20 ga.

I have taken a few dozen head of game since my first one back in 1987. Most falling to a Hornady SSP 180 and aa1680 powder. But the learning curve was steep. Couple years after that first maxi i bought a 14” 357 Herrett. Together they taught me allot of what bullets do. I sold off the Herrett and the first couple Maxis but kept a early Factory H&R chambered in 357 MAX. ITS A REAL GOOD SHOOTER and true to its “handi” moniker.

I have always had a soft spot for the Ruger SS. I owned a couple #1 never a #3. I turned down a 30/40 #3 cause I didnt know about the caliber... The stupidity of youth.

I have alot of fun with a 190 WFN AND A 180 RD mold in the Maxi. The SSP’s are gone so I hord my supply. But with these cast bullets Im not left wanting ANYTHING.

Good luck with yours it looks great!

My fav Cast bullets for the Maxi. FA8C7FA8-6EE0-4B16-897A-061B7D622B57.jpeg

This pic is a Maxi case on the left and a Dan wesson case on the right My Savage has a shorter tighter throat than the H&R ans cannot chamber in a Maxi case BFE34629-7A02-4308-9806-D0E86FAFBEF9.jpeg

These are the RB bullets E64FF957-A69A-4C72-A74F-893E3A025380.jpeg

This is a LEE unlabeled mold. Drops bullets .360 & 190+ g. Im told it is a old group buy mold.

I have been playing with a 230g NOE bullet with good results. In the Savage with a 24” Bbl it hits 1750 fps!

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Cast of a fairly soft alloy and moving at under 1.8K out of of a 35 Whelen the RCBS 200FN works nicely on flesh.

I was just reading on another forum , several people were talking about their frustrations with rounds not feeding properly from the magazine and jamming the action.

Guess what ?
That's not a concern with my Ruger # 1, 357 Max.
I love to shoot all of my Ruger # 1 rifles.

I have been talking with Cory about those issues. Its a 450 Correct? Dont know exactly, But he is determined to make a magnumloudenboomer out of it. Running 460 data in the 450.... He has had to replace a number of parts and routinely rocks scope & ring mounts loose and dosent find the problem to be heavy loads...Unfortunately he seems learns at a different pace.

BUT, RA rifles can be persnickety to feed FP profile bullets. I have a 300BO, 350 Legend & 450 BM myself and every one is troublesome at times with a flat point style.

With respect to my hobbies of shooting and casting, If
it isn't fun, I don't like to do it.
A lot of that doesn't sound like fun, it sounds like frustration.
I try to avoid that.
