Recently started using an RCBS bench primer. It works well with the exception of recently it drops primers periodically after one is loaded on the column. Anyone run into this issue? For now I wrap a small towel around the column to reduce primers from bouncing every where on floor.

Used mine for years and never seen that. Most problems I have is a fail to feed primer because the bolts holding the feed and ram lever back out on occasion.
Maybe you have a worn feed tube mouth?

my biggest problem is when the cup section comes loose and the primer sits too high blocking the little stop from stopping the next primer.

the only other time I had a problem was when I tried running small primers through a large tube.

Same here. I have a tool that fits in the hole and every time before use I give it a twist to assure it's snug. Been doing that for so many years now I could probably never get it off if I needed to.

I check for loose head and check every time before use. The dropped primer happens when the head is just loaded with a new primer and the tube assembly starts to move back to the at rest position. Occurs usually in last 15 or so in primer tube. Hate to start messing with plunger tension spring unless a last resort.

try cutting a 15-16" chunk of coat hanger off and dropping it in the tube when you've used the first 50 primers.
that might help keep the ones in the tube from tipping slightly and slipping past the plunger.
then just slide it back out when you refill the tube.
I have used the follower for the Dillon tubes before to make sure the last few primers fed well,
but I don't remember which brand it was giving me the trouble.

I put a 8" piece of 1/8" aluminum rod in the primer tube when it starts getting down on primers.
The weight helps feed the primers with out them popping onto the floor...dale
