Some stuff like 25 yard plinking bullets for handguns will be done faster but for things I really care about I will be paying far more attention to quality.

I have 100-150 of the 287B cast and ready for decent weather.

Do you remember what year it is Rick? I had a '70 at one point.

It's a 1972, the last production year, of that particular body style, which began in 1970. Paid $3050 (OTD) for it new, the SS option was a whopping $350......and well worth it, based on the increased popularity.

Paul, since you had it on back order I take it you got the sale price? Ian wanted one also, I wonder if he did the back order thing cause it ain't on sale no more. :( Midway page did say $110 and free shipping, now it says $129.99 and doesn't mention anything about free shipping.

I got my Easy Melt today. It's a lot smaller and lighter then the old Pro Melt. Takes it quite a while to melt with a fresh start. Went and checked it and melted all but part of one ingot I put in it. I put one more new ingot in it and if about froze the melt . The temperature I set stays dead nuts. I'll have to see what it does after I get the pot full. Will post more as I get more data on it. Oh it's noisier then the old Pro Melt because it has a fan on it. LOL

Okay still fooling with the Easy Melt. The temperature doesn't move much much putting in ingots and I believe the reason to be is the temperature sensor is on the outside of the pot, not internal like a 4 cm probe. With that said it holds the setting with no deviation at all.

The pot internal diameter is 4.5 inches so it's big enough for a ladle for sure. I put 23 pounds, by my kitchen scale, of alloy in it and it brought is almost to the lip. Now to cast!

Rick, I think I got in just under the wire, but as I put it on a credit card
with the back order not being charged until it is received, will not know
until I get it. Will let you know when I receive, probably tomorrow. I have
a Lyman, but it is not big enough for the Rowell Ladle. Works fine for the
RCBS Ladle, for smaller bullets. I usually bottom pour with my old RCBS,
but for what I wanted it for (heavy 30 cal and larger), will go with the
easy pour.

Okay just in from casting with the new Easy Melt. The opening is large enough to knock your sprues back into the pot if you are careful. Like mentioned before it senses the outside of the pot temperature so the alloy temperature is a little different until it sets for a while and everything normalizes.

I like it!!

Went you are finished you don't just unplug it. You are suppose to run your temperature setting down to all zeroes and let the pot cool down and the little fan will be running. When it's down to normal temperatures you unplug it.

If anyone has any questions I'll try to address them.

Little doubt they don't want the heat to transfer to the electronics when shut off which it would without the fan. Kinda surprising that they didn't build it so that if turned off the fan would automatically stay running until a pre-set temp is reached. Just turn off but leave it plugged in and all would be good.

I guess I'm going to have to order one now, I've just been fuming that when they came back in stock they were $20 higher, standard Midway procedure. They'll put it on sale again in a week when they don't sell right out of the 2000 units they just got in yesterday, or they'll put it on sale when there's exactly one left in inventory.

I was a bottom feeder myself for many years, wouldn't touch a ladle. All I could think was how boring and how slow that must be, then one day a bunch of years ago I decided to try it. Hhmm . . . Not boring at all and to my surprise it wasn't slower. The reject rate was far less with the ladle plus I was making better bullets. Never looked back, been using the Rowell #2 ever since.
