RCBS Little Dandy Powder Measure

I've never cared for the Little Dandy (or the very similar measure from Pacific/Bair/Hornady), but I'm a fan of the Pacific/Bair/Hornady measures with interchangable inserts. I've always been able to find a rotor/powder combination for my most-used pistol loads. Heavy loads still get metered out with one of my rifle measures using the small drum, weighed on a scale, with any adjustment done with a trickler.
Jim, do you mean the slide actuated models with the disc shaped bushings? I’ve always been curious about those

Yeah! The bushings are 1/2" diameter, 1/2" long. They don't take up much space, and I used to see them all the time at shows. I've got at least 2 sets, plus some custom bushings for really weird stuff (10 grains of FFFFg for a duplex BP load, for example). Unfortunately, I put the things away someplace safe and can't find them, so I'm piecing together yet another set!

The charges thrown are fairly consistent, judging by my chronograph. I'll look at my chart to get close with a powder, throw ten charges and average out the actual weight, double-check my load data, and call it good. As long as you keep the base screws that hold the bottom on snug (so there is no slop in the slide), nothing changes. Just like any fixed measure in that way, I'm just more-confortable with a slide over a rotary action.

Early on in the hobby, I bought a Bonanza Bullseye measure. It came with several brass rotors and like others, I would drop 10 charges and get an average weight. Due to the design, it had a wide funnel shaped powder column that seemed to be rather abruptly reduced to enter the housing to measure the charge. I fabricated a larger tube and attached that to the measure and reduced the variation between dropped charges. Through the years, I have come up with many different rotors and another measure and am preparing this second unit to send to my Daughter who has developed an interest in reloading. She says she is only going to reload one caliber so this will work fine for that. I do not believe her, so will have extra rotors to adapt to her specific charge needs as she goes down the rabbit hole. The Bonanza Bullseye measure and the RCBS Little Dandy operate on the same principal, but the rotors do not interchange. The Bonanza rotor is from 5/8" stock.
