RCBS LubriSizer Modification

Ever since I learned that there was no need to fill every grease groove on a bullet I’ve been struggling with .22 and .243 bullets in my RCBS lubrisizer going too deep in the sizing die and having more grooves filled than I wanted/needed and the need to wipe off excess lube. Not having enough upward adjustment of the stop screw made it impossible to adjust the stop screw so the base of the bullet did not get a bit (or more than a bit) of lube that also need to be wiped off.
I’ve solved this in the past by using washers around the top punch and other temporary spacers.

I got very frustrated today trying to lube and size the .243 85 gr NOE FP to fil just the first groove. I had a eureka moment when I remembered I had some 1/2 diameter by 1/2 inch long nylon spacers. I purchased a handful years ago to make powder bushing for and old Pacific powder measure. I had some left over. By enlarging the center hole with a 1/4 “ drill bit the spacer fits on the plunger shaft between the head of the plunger and the hollow adjustment screw. The head of the plunger is also 1/2 inch in diameter so the plunger still enters the bottom of the sizer and pushes the center pin of the sizer die up to eject the bullet. It worked perfect for the .243 NOE bullets and the 410459 revolver bullet I tried.

I attached some photos that might make this clearer. It’s cut my time sizing and lubing the NOE bullet in half. No wiping excess lube.

They’re sideways again. Can someone explain how to fix this?

Clever trick!

Regarding the photos, you can’t rotate or otherwise manipulate the photos using the forum sofware. So, you have to orient the photos on your phone/tablet before uploading them. Your phone/tablet will have an app for showing photos. Typically, you get some options when «clicking» the photo, one of them being a function where you can rotate the photo.
If you are using your phone to take the photos, you might save yourself some hassle by disabling the «auto-rotate» function on your phone. Usually, this can be done in a pull-down menu.

Picture rotation using Windows.

I had to download your picture to my laptop. Put it in a folder, then edit the picture. In Edit Picture there is an option to Flip and Rotate. I rotated it to the right then X it out. Then close the next window. It will ask you to save your work...........saying changes have not been saved. Hit save. Go back to the folder the picture is in and presto chango it's in the correct format.

You can do the same thing if this site says the picture is too large. There is a resize option in Edit Picture. I usually plug in 900 in the first box, second box will fill in automatically in the 768 range.

Sorry can't help with a smartphone. Don't own or need one. Flip phone is all I need.

I use Paint on any WIN machine to manipulate photos before posting. It's free with every Windows version and does everything I need. I NEVER overwrite the original photo, if I make any changes at all the edited photo is given a unique name and saved in a known location. (I have a folder on my desktop named POST PHOTOS where I keep edited photos for posting.) Just use SAVE AS instead of SAVE.

Winelover,

Your solution is much more elegant and smarter than mine! I’ll take mine apart and do it right.

Thanks

On a Win10 computer, you really only have to open the photo and there will be an option to rotate it. Just make it right and then close it and it will be resaved in the corrected orientation.
