This is 60 Grains of Swiss 3F Blackpowder, and a 510 Nitro Card, Over Powder Wad, NO BULLET HERE. This is how i Foul my Bores before i Start a Group, I Thought i would Catch this on Video to Show folks that might not know, Just how “SNAPPY” Real Blackpowder is with just an Over Powder Wad
This is what i had in the Rifle, a .510 Nitro Card

Weight difference between a 510 Nitro Card and a .54 Cal 1/8” Oxyoke Brand Wool Felt Wad, Basically identical in Weight

Here is the Nitro Card

I touched one of these off in my Garage one time :) I really did! Not a Big Deal in the Country, But i live Right in Town

I was shooting my 1:15 Twist Small Bore Long Ranger, I forgot to Pop a Cap Straight Through After Swabbing (To break the Crud Free in the Fire Channel) These Small FAST Twist Bores are FINICKY here, They will literally Plug up and Hangfire, or Worse yet, Not Fire at all. Which is precisely what happened to me, I had no tools with me This Particular Day, No way to get the Nipple out? etc. I had no choice but to Come home with a loaded gun that wouldn’t go off.

I get home, I Removed the Nipple, Blasted Compressed Air Through the Hole, The Bullet Came Flying Right Out Immediately (Land Rider)
:lewis:
The Powder and Wool Felt Wad Stayed, I couldn’t get them out? Air just Blew Through the Powder Charge and Wool Wad. Instead of Driving up on the Hill and Popping this off, Or Just Washing it out, I thought to myself? There’s no Bullet in here, ONLY a Wool Felt Over Powder Wad, No Harm in just this little Wad? The Rifle had a 70 Grain Charge in it. I sprinkled a few Grains of Swiss 3F in the Breech Hole, Replaced the Nipple, Capped her up, and Headed for my little 1 Car Garage To Discharge it :) I Pointed the Rifle up in the Corner and Touched it off, KABOOOOOM!! Holy Ballz!! It was then that I realized I hadn’t Dusted my Rafters :) The Concussion in this Little Enclosed Building was INTENSE to Say the Least, And it was getting REALLY Smoky in there Fast, I made a Nonchalant Exit like nothing had Happened? I left the Door open so the Smoke could Billow Out :) Here came my Wife around the Corner in a Hurry, “Did you just Shoot in the Garage?” I said Nah, I just popped a Cap off :)

It’s funny to look back on Doing that  What was i thinking? I knew better than that! That was the 1st, and Last time I’ve ever thought of Doing that :)

reminds me of the time I wanted to test some 450 express cases I had just made with no directions and no measurements to work from except the chamber itself.
I dumped in 10grs of unique and flaired out a 40 short case and thumb seated it in the case.
took it in the basement thinking it'd just go POP!.
I aimed it over in the corner at an old 2x6 door frame and touched it off.
the wife was directly above me in the kitchen doing dishes,, LOL,,, there was a scream and a trail of liquid from the sink to the bathroom.
I mostly didn't hear the scream,,,,,,, but I could faintly make out the foot steps going across the floor.
that case is still imbedded in the 2x6 about an inch deep.
I won't tell the story about shooting through the roll up garage door and taking out the headlight on her new car with a primer and a glue stick.

If scaring the Beejeebas out of the wife is a metric.....

She's doing dishes, peacefully gazing out the window. Never noticed me? walking across the kitchen with a R700V 6mm. I calmly opened the side door which is about 20' from where she's standing..... go prone with a Harris bipod and touch off 40+ grains of 4350 behind a Sierra 100 splitting a yonder crow in half..... her shoes stayed in place, haha.
