Recommendations for plain base 30-30 mold

I’m looking for recommendations on a Plain base bullet for my 30-30 Winchester. I really enjoy shooting the rifle and need to get more trigger time with peep sights.

I would like to find a plain base mold that I can shoot cheaply with pistol powders.

31-168c 9gr unique PCd. Grooves will hold small amount of lube. Base seats easy and gives good exit at crown. Posted target from 336 in another thread. You can run faster with harder alloy. Ha so a 145gr version that does wel also for BO.

I like the Lee 311-120-2R powder-coated or BLL'd over a pinch of Titegroup and any old standard or magnum large pistol primer (have to go look at the book, cannot remember now) for about 1,000 fps.

My grandson will have some fun with these , here is one
of his targets he shot with the 311008 in the Ruger # 1, 30-30 :
Cheap , clean shooting with no gas check to buy.

You have the mp312 159 hunter? Leave the check off w/4-6gr tg g2g.

He makes it in a plain base solid now to.

I’ll be honest I’ve never tried shooting gas checked bullets without the check. Just seems to me like the seal needs to be at the very base of the bullet.

Ben I really like the looks of that 311008. Looks like it would be great for a lever gun.

Ian all I can find is a 311-100 2R. Kinda light but it would be cheap to buy a 2 cavity and give it a try.

Some do well some don't. That bullet for me with & without does splendid in 3030. Ain't got much to loose for trying.

Lyman 3118 with 6.1 Red Dot gave me 1.5" groups at 50 yd with factory buckhorns. Cut that to .75" group at 25 yd at which the sights and target are fairly clear to my old eyes.

Well I jumped on this band wagon. I warmed up my pot and cast about 300 311008 bullets sized em @ .3105 lubed with wll 2500 and rolled in BLL.
Loaded them with 40 thou of the front band exposed over 4.5 gr Reddot.
it shot superb to say the least.
I was shooting at a steel gong with a 1” target spot at 60 yards.
Layed all the shots on the dot with open sights.
Before I got to the target to snap a pic my son layed into the same target with 38 special and ruined the chance of me getting a pic of the group.
:sigh:
Oh well we had a blast on a warm Sunday after noon not isolating.....
