Might have been one of these guys maybe not .
A friend of the person showed up for a squirrel hunt with a 458WM . I don't recall the details any more than the name but 8-9 gr of Unique and Lee alox on a 144 gr .460 RB seems familiar , but it may have been a collar button ...... I loaded some 95 gr bullets meant for a 380 in a 358 Win and 8 gr Unique although I do have a 36066 mould also .

I have only done it with handguns, specifically a .44 Colt and a .38 spl. both Richard-Mason conversion replicas shooting black powder. Both in an attempt to get a lower point of impact without having a taller from sight. Surprising benefit was noticeably high velocity, little recoil. Yes the point of impact dropped as per plan.

Fyi, ideal handbook 38 has some fun load data using bullseye for these "cellar" rb loads. Seems like everything from 30/30 to 45/70. Even saw something from full lead taco where he was powder coating the rb for use thru a can. Think he called it peashooting. Pretty entertaining video!

I started a project a while back that got put on hold while we move. I don't remember where I read the idea, so if it belongs to someone here please jump in and take credit. I took three 30/30 cases that where fired in my rifle, and poured lead into the empty cases up to the base of the neck. Then I used a 5/16" drill bit to drill a hole from the case mouth to the flash hole. That's where I was when I had to put the project on hold. The plan is to neck size the cases, de-prime and prime by hand, use 00 buckshot that was pushed through a .312" sizing die, and load three buckshot pellets on top of a small charge of Unique. I like the idea of powder coating the pellets, and I figure that I'll play around with the charge until I get good groups.

.30 Carbine Blackhawk, two (2) #4 Western buckshot (..320 sized to .310), 4.5 grains Bullseye, wad under the first ball, small drop of candle wav between the balls for lubricant, seat and lightly crimp in the flat side of the second ball. These shot one ball in the black and one ball in the white at fifty feet on the NRA target;. They also worked well on racoons raiding the henhouse after dark.

I'm a big fan of the 311316 cast of soft scrap, tumble lubed, and launched with about 3.4 grains of Titegroup and a large pistol primer. Big flat nose goes THWAP through a greasy racoon and makes two really big holes. Fairly quiet (subsonic from a 20" barrel) and no special case filler needed with the Titegroup.

I have shot them for many years in my 45 Colts. Occasionally in 357's Made some three ball Maxi loads but they was pitifully inaccurate past 12-15'.
More recently I have modified this with a scoop of #12 shot & a ball topper. In my 327's. Awesome preformance up close and a very accurate ball out to 25-30'!!

#4 buck through a .225 sizer with LLA seated over 3 grains of Bullseye and a CFVentures soft gas check.
#3 buck through a .245 sizer with LLA seated over 3 grains of Bullseye and a CFVentures soft gas check..
Use a fired case, slightly flared, limited range as once past about 10-15 yards the group expands rapidly.
Shot in a Contender in 223 Rem or 6MM TCU. I suspect they would do fine in long guns as well but the 243 Winchester might like a little bigger charge.
