Ruger Security Six 357

We use a tractor gun. Some years ago I bought a NEF .223 with a wood stock, put a Tasco World Class 6X scope on it. Must have been one of the first Chinese made because I didn't realize they were made in China until I saw it marked as such. We keep it on one of the Son-in-law and Grandson's tractors during corn picking and spraying time in the spring. It has taken several coyotes for us. Now their tractors have cabs, heaters and ACs. They are just somewhat nicer than my living room. When I was a kid, Dad's never got treated that well.

The Ruger Six series DA revolvers (Service-Six, Security-Six & Speed-Six) are outstanding revolvers.
The last ones came out of the factory in 1988. It's a shame that Ruger discontinued that line.

The Ruger DA Six's are the size of a S&W K-frame with the strength of a L-frame. The good news is Ruger made well over a million units.
A little observation of mine from the past - Back when the Six series were in production you could always find a used one offered for sale. If the Ruger was in a display case along with a S&W, the Ruger would generally be priced lower. Then after production ceased, the Ruger's became far less common on the used market. By the 1990's I had sold or traded my Ruger DA Six guns. They're as common as crabgrass - I can get another one cheap, right ? That turned out to be incorrect. I spent a lot of time and more money than I should have, to replace the "once common" Ruger DA Six's in my collection. I will not make that same mistake twice.

If you want a Ruger DA Six, (and who doesn't :)) don't pass up a good example when you find one for sale.
Ruger doesn't support these models anymore but spare parts can still be found. These guns rarely break and are some of the best DA revolvers ever made.

In 02' I bought an SS 6" for $285 +7% . I knew it was a fair deal ,357s were still very popular and carried by "desk cops" , I didn't know that I bought it for low average 4" blue value . When I became enlightened I very soon discovered the classic 3 throated Ruger . 1 tight , 1 loose , 2 ea nominal over/under in more or less opposing pairs .
Loved it needed a grip change to get my middle finger away from the trigger guard . It was a fine shooter into middle 357 loads , I think that had to do with the knuckle bite and therefore operator error in the higher loads . Alas it and its Marlin companion 1894C were gifted to my folks for garden pests control .
