They are probably the easiest revolver there is to pack around. My Father in Law has one he keeps in his vest pocket all the time. I have put quite a few rounds through it over the years.

If nothing else they will teach you trigger control better than any other handgun. They are so lite it’s tough to not pull them.

I plan to add one to my collection one of these days. Congratulations Ben I’m sure you will get lots of enjoyment out of it.

Thanks, I'm certain that my grandson Trevor will shoot it even more than I'll ever shoot it.

We go to the range on Saturday.
He has already requested that this one go with us.

Nice gun. Interested in any comments you and Trevor might share on green front sight. I have similar on new Ruger .22 GP100 and I'm still making my mind up about it.

My shooting buddy, Joe, bought the first one he ever saw. Shot it for years and is his carry gun. It has never misfired and is surprisingly accurate. Enjoy your revolver.

Looks like the front sight is pinned, so it could easily be change out. But why? I have a Springfield XD that came with a fiber optic red front sight............I like it. Shows up very well, in low light. IIRC, it came with optional green rods, too. Left the red in place, so as to contrast with the green CT Railmaster laser. BTW, laser was free with additional purchase promotion.

Yes, as Winelover pointed out, the front sight can be changed out easily.
Right now, I am happy with it like it is.

I have had a model 63 4" for years, great guns, you will love it. A 317 with eight shots, 3" barrel, and ultra light, what's not to like.
I want one.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
To each their own, but I've shot with a lot of sights like that. Fine for tin cans and BG's, not so hot for trying to head shoot a squirrel in the woods. If it works for you guys, that's great. I like the idea of the gun though, except of course I hate stainless. Is that a 3" barrel?

I didn't and don't find the glow-worm sights aesthetically pleasing to behold. Having now used the things on the SP-101 under varying light levels, I have learned to accept them. Grudgingly. The round light element is housed in a nicely-squared post, so sight picture & alignment is distinct. I can hit very well with the things, so maybe I'll just leave Well Enough Alone.

This S&W Model 317 Kit Gun really calls to me. 12 oz./empty, 8 shots......so under a pound full-up. VERY tempting.

I purposely put that same green sight on the 624.
it isn't intended to be a target gun and the bullets hit right behind that green glowing thingy.
it slams down 5" steel plates clear back to about 40yds by simply placing that green dot over them, and I expect it to do the same thing center of mass at 2 am, or on that occasional hey look we can eat that [when out camping] furry/feathery thing.

in other words perfect for a trail and home defense revolver.

For whatever it is worth...........My goal with this one was not precision target work. It is just a casual plinker and possibly a self defense revolver.
