Thinking on a single action 22lr/mag convertible.

Any spectacular specimens I should consider or stay away from? Steel or ss frames only please. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

The first handgun I ever purchased was a Ruger Single Six convertible. It was a good revolver. I still have an "Old Model" in 22 L.R. only that I picked up later. Still good pistols.

The first Ruger Single six I ever bought was the super single six ( convertable) Had the 22 LR and 22 Mag cylinder The 22 Mag was more accurate because they sized the bore for the Mag ( at least that is what I was told) It was a vintage 1969 Got it in 2006

Recent purchase of a Ruger Single Six special edition with scope rings (#0662). Love the thing, once I put real grips on its handle (Pachmayr Presentations).

Bruce, I've got a really nice stainless 22 5 shot I could make you a heck of a deal on cept it's not a convertible, 22 RF only. Definitely not a pocket gun though. Problem would be getting it to you up there in the frozen tundra of the north.

Thanks guys. Ruger was/is at the top of the list.

Please do send the particulars. Do have a dealer for transfer on this end. Would have to ask if he accepts from an individual. Some here only do dealer to dealer on incoming.

5 1/2" Ruger Stainless Single Six convertible. It would be one of the last to go from the flock. Rock solid dependable, pretty accurate, (I fire lapped with CCI 22 CB Longs and Clover paste). I usually carry it about the property with the mag cylinder in it. I only wish it fired reloadable ammo.

I have a Ruger Single-Six with the extra cylinder for 22 Mag. It has the bicentennial roll mark on the barrel. I found it in a tiny gun store in a small town about 35 years ago.
Back in those days a FFL cost about $30 a year IIRC. There were a lot of hardware stores, general stores and other small businesses that sold guns on the side. Every time I handle that gun, I remember that shop.
I still see the convertible single actions from time to time but the little gun shops are gone.

I bought My first Single-Six used in 1976, wasn't happy with the Colt Peacemaker .22 Convertible that I'd bought the previous year. Long Rifles were dead on, Magnums were 6" low-2" rt.
Looked for a Colt New Frontier .22, found the Ruger first.
Traded the first one off, brought another a few weeks later. Have had at least one Super Single Six Convertible in My gun safe ever since.
