Out of habit the other night I clicked on a hyperlink that I used to go to the Remington website. Only Remington ammo. Not a single mention of any of their firearms. Nada. You have got to love private equity deals. Here is a link to an article explaining how Remington firearms went Tango Uniform. It is from the New York Times so it has a slant to it, but there is a lot of information there that was interesting. Warning. It is a long article.

I work with a guy who shoots trap, skeet, and sporting clays. He told me that twice he has bought broken 870 Wingmasters and sent them to Remington.

He didn’t even call or get a claim number. He just would put a letter in the shipping box. The letter both times was a lie, something about how the shotgun was a family heirloom, and he was hoping to give it to his grandson (note: he is younger than me and childless). If I remember the story correctly he never paid more than 50 to 75 bucks, shipping included, for a completely rebuilt gun. He even got new wood on one.

I suspect that those days are over. When you could just mail something to them like he did.

Josh,
Those days are gone for sure!
I would be surprised if anybody could contact them now!
I actually filed a support ticket to find out what happened to my original support ticket! No response

Just finished spending most of this year working as the ops manager attempting to resurrect the carcass of Montana Rifle Company as a new entity. Eight months doing that, much of which involved reviewing internal correspondence left behind from the short period Remington purchased much of MRC to get the barrel manufacturing end of things in order to have MRC manufacture their barrels.

It's a long story, but the period of Remington ownership ended a few years ago. The record they left behind of incompetence, poor customer service, abject ineptitude, etc. is stunning at best.

I suspect there's lots of blame to go around at that company, at all levels.
