Looks like someone made it into a smooth sided mould for coating. You can see what looks like faint remnants of bands on the left side of the cavity in one pic.

The # 315 is a wonderfully accurate bullet " as is ".
I think it is interesting that the seller makes no mention
of the modifications to the mould in his sales ad.

I'll stick with what I said earlier.

I wonder if maybe somewhere in it's past it belonged to a 8×57 paper patch rifle ? .315 dia is pretty big short of PC for a really big Enfield , Jap or Russian . Isn't it ? I had a Russian that was .305×.3165 and would chamber a .318 nose and a .323 would slip fit in a fired case . So it's possible .

it's been modified alright and marked for indexing the bullet to the rifle.
someone was shooting Scheutzen games and seating into the rifling. [using very soft alloy]
if it wasn't cash and carry all the way across the country I would be pretty interested in this mold.

I’d say they would ship it fiver. I bet that was a tough modification with that material.
