it's worth your time to double check the hallmarks on the pewter items you pick up here and there.
sometimes you get lucky and they have a substantial collector value.

My favorite tankards to melt are the golf trophy kind, with a putter head for a handle. Super heavy for a tankard.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
I once bought a full pewter tea set at the Goodwill for about $12.00 or so. As I was checking out, an old lady stopped by and congratulated me on finding such a beautiful treasure.

I didn't have the heart to tell her....

In regards to stuff that is worth something, Goodwill has become very active in checking the value of things so they don't put good stuff out on the shelf for dirt cheap. The even have an auction site now for the "better" stuff. Shopgoodwill.com

As for the few things we may find of value, where is a good outlet to sell? I have quit selling on ebay this year due to them no longer sending money to your PayPal account and wanting our bank info.

Other than that, the value to me for melting down is more than the hassle of trying to resell.

Any other opinions on reselling? I know, I just opened Pandora's box but that is why we are here.

Exactly my thoughts on the matter.

Something that I do that you may want to do. Establish a relationship with a shop.

I will check certain items with the local antique shop the next time I am in town.
The shop owner provided me a list of what he wants,(what to look for) and I update it when I pass thru.

I keep my eye out for him, he will keep an eye out for me. I found him a silver gravy ladle that matched his set so it was complete and he was able to sell it for full value+, he gave me $50 cash for it. I paid 75 cents.

He has sold me a few unwanted Pewter items, at $7 a lb. Stuff that took up room in his shop for too long, or he could not sell on eBay. Stuff that is dented beyond reasonable repair, mismatch stuff that only sells good in sets, etc.

He has also texted me and told me of item(s) he saw somewhere cheep but did not want.
I have picture texted him, with pics of other stuff and made myself a few bucks, just by taking the time, sending a pick, then placing a bid or too, or buying something while I was out.

Other wise I figure if I give 75% or less the price if tin and I did not make a special trip.Even if it is worth a bit more then tin, its all bullet fodder.
