Screw spacing for Lyman #41 on Winder Musket?

What is the spacing and counterbore dimensions for the Lyman #41 rear sight on the Winder Musket?

I was recently looking at what I believe is/was a Winder, the stamping on the upper tang sure looks like it. Didn't notice the ordnance flaming bomb, but the right side of the receiver has four plug screws in a pattern that sure looks right.

The round barrel [originally 22 Short] is now a 22 K-Hornet [twist is OK for jacketed]. It has scope blocks for an externally adjusted scope.

So, the net suggests the screws are 6x48, but so far the spacing is unknown.

I can do the manly-man thing and whip out the hole measuring jaws for my Starrett calipers. Probably have to measure off the front edge of the receiver to figure out the "slant" of the hole pattern...

Okay, here's a Winder. Top set of holes look to be .85" center to center, the bottom set .95" center to center.IMG_3716.jpgIMG_3716.jpgDoes this help?

How thick is the plate? How deep is the counterbore? The diameter of the through-hole and the screw head diameter will be figured out when it's time to machine.

How far to the left does the sight arm extend? IIRC, the low-wall reciever is 1.19 inches wide, so I'd expect the side arm extends 0.6 inch [plus enough for any adjustment mechanism].

It would be interesting to machine a screw-on base that has a dovetail to accept a Williams Foolproof staff. Yep, that is sure not a Lyman 41, but the less drilling into the reciever, the better.

Are you going to buy that K-Hornet? I could meet you half way with the Winder sight and you could measure to your heart's content and send it back to me when you're done with it.

Or I could send it back with my friend from Beloit next time I ice fish with him. He owns Meris' Cleaners and Shoe repair in Beloit if time is not of the essence.
