I have a Shaw barrel on order for a 358 Win chamber. It is going into a Savage action. An today i was thinking that if i knew what dia. the barrels are supposed to be cut at. I could get ahead of the game and have alot of bullets sized and ready to load when i get the barrel.
Tomorrow i will call Shaw and try to get the information i need. But tonight i am asking if anyone has gotten one of their barrels in a 35 caliber, and what dia. the throat and the barrel is cut to?

Hope you have better luck with Shaw than I did. Had the rebarrel my old Ruger M77 Tang Safe 250-3000 this spring. Tried 3 bullets, two weights, and 3 powders. Only one combo grouped less than 2” and it was over 1.75”. Every load was above book velocity with the 22” barrel, not the book specified 24”. Called them up and they said they couldn’t warranty a barrel with hand loads. Nothing in their literature mentions that. I asked the guy if he had a case of factory ammo to try it. He laughed and said nope. Said to send it in and they would look it over. Been over a month so far with no communication.

Sorry you have had poor luck with the Shaw barrel. I used 7 MM blank to make a 26 inch iron sighted 7 Mauser that shoots 1.5 with open sights and a 26 inch heavy sporter that shoots Speer 130's sub-MOA when I do my part. Both were short chambered for 1903 Springfields and I fitted and finished reamed them.

I shot the best five shots of my life through a Shaw Savage premium pre-fit barrel. 'Course it was in a pillar-bedded benchest chassis and had been rechambered to a wildcat by a very meticulous machinist. The bore and crown were all Shaw though.

I use 358 in my Hawkeye.
never looked,,, never measured,,,, never tried anything else,,,, did like a 3 step 10 of each ladder [.0-.5-.0] in the speed zone I wanted,,,, picked the load in the middle since it didn't seem to matter, and that was that.

I had them do a 8x57 Mauser for me. It was the most accurate rifle I have ever had. Consistently shot in the 0.2's. Shot several 0.25" groups at 300 yrs. But it did not shoot that way at first. Once it had about 200 rds through it it just kept getting more accurate till it settled in around 300 rds or so.
