Should BLL separate?

If you leave out the Acetone from the Ed's Red it isn't near as hard on plastic bottles. I think he said it worked without it just not as fast.

Yeah, and I have even though about leaving it out too. As I understand it, it's main purpose is for plastic shotgun wad fouling?

Not sure what the acetone does. I know a 50/50 solution of acetone and ATF makes the best penetrating oil I've ever used though. I also add the anhydrous lanolin to my Ed's Red.

I have some metal 1 quart fuel cans with screw on lids for storing and mixing BLL and Ed's Red. The Ed's Red I dispense to a clear ketchup bottle with a stopper cap I got at Walmart for a buck six bits. Been using it for a year or so with out any problems.

It just seems a little antithetical to make our own bore solvents, case cleaners and bullet lubes and the BUY a container for them.

It's a long-standing habit to reuse anything I can reuse t hat I forget I can BUY stuff today that were impossible to find years ago,

EDIT: NEVER MIND! Minimum order is $200! I'm going to keep looking.
Not a lot of difference between that an an old powder can.

As dumb as it sounds, I used to pass "outdated" reloading manuals on to prospective handloaders to read before buying their own stuff. I also threw away or have away the steel cans, but I have two IMR cans left, but no spout on top.

When I buy 8# kegs, I separate it into NEW one-quart motor oil bottles I buy from US Plastics (in/near Dayton, Ohio).

Like @Joshua and his Seafoam cans, I've tossed a good number of good containers and now regret it.

Hey! This thread was about LUBE, not Ed's Red!

I drug this way off topic and kept it there.

Does this incur for me some sort of elevated member-status I can tack under my non-avatar?;)

I really feel like "one of the boys" now.

EDIT: Nawwww! Man, I pulled a rotten trick on @Schweisser . I don't think it counts when you do that to a poor pl' new guy.

My apologies, sir. Threads go off-topic a lot here, but it's not not "punished" or pounced upon because it's usually still good discussion. It's really not right to do that to a new member before he has a chance to see how it goes here, so I owe you one.

No worries! It's all good discussion.

I too threw out a several Seafoam cans. I regret it now, but truthfully I have so many of the camping fuel bottles that it doesn't matter. But my inner hoarder doesn't care that it doesn't matter. And I still have several empty rectangular quart cans. I really like how compactly square/rectangular containers store compared to round ones and I couldn't bear to throw them out.
