I wonder if a 10mm breech block assy could be grafted onto a .45 Cal one and make it work?

Bill

It probably could--for a while. I think the back-thrust/breech-block/roll-pin issue a la the 357/40 calibers would crop up fairly quickly, the 10mm runs at similar pressures to the 357/40 and with greater gas volume. I see where you are going with this thought :) so perhaps a 10mm upper half with the machined-in/bar stock breech block would fill the bill. Probably made of unobtainium, though.

This is the sort of gymnastics that people living under oppressive regimes throughout the world have to resort to. I call it "Extracting teeth via anal vent accessing".

Is the ejector in the right place on the .45 ACP model? That might be the sticky wicket.
I would guess that the 10mm is a solid slide if the .357Sig/.40S&W guns had issues with the doubled
roll pins.

Once in Arizona, just go buy one. Or a Dan Wesson Razorback or a Colt Delta, or.....whatever he heck you
want.

Yuma You bet-cha it gets hot ! That was why they built that last chance prison there.
Once you get above 3000 feet the climate changes to near just right. Above 5000 it will get cold. Above 7000 and it will freeze hard and snow a bunch.
When we get done down here we are looking at AZ or New Mexico to end our days. Some where a big city is not near and critters are close by.

I am a life-long desert denizen. Heat don't make no never-mind to me. I'm retired now, so I don't have be in it to earn a living. For me, Yuma is about perfect--free country, and 3-hour drive to ocean fishing in the summertime. Another good counter-measure for the August heat.

I have a Glock 20SF and 29SF in 10mm presently, so I'm not totally-deprived of examples in the caliber. IME with these two, loads up to the point of medium-intensity (180 grain bullets at 1100-1140 FPS) are tractable and brass isn't "guppied". Moving on to current top-end OEM ammo--the W-W STHPs (175 grains @ 1250-1275 FPS) both pistols "guppy" the brass a bit and that 29SF is a flippin' handful. :) I see aftermarket barrels coming for both in the near future, since they have full case head support and slower-twist conventional rifling that tends to be more lead-friendly. The 4-turns/meter twist in 40 S&W and 10mm Glock barrels is absolute overkill, and twice as fast as what is needed for the application. The most accurate 40 S&W I have ever fired--my CZ-75B--has a 1-16" twist rate. It is a superb cast bullet pistol. I would like to load 200 grain cast bullets to the 1150-1200 FPS level, which is where the Bren Ten was running.

Need to find some hogs that need killing with that 200 gr at 1150-1200 load. That could be a lot of
fun.

Yes it would! It would do good work on deer as well.

California hunting will require lead-free ammo this year. The 200 grainers will be an out-of-state-only hunt option. Barnes has already tapped my wallet this year, and more will be coming.

I fell in love with the P220 .45 via a friend's Browning BDA in the late 70's. The last one I had was a DAK so I sold it. Solid guns.

In terms of self-protection guns, the SIG P-220 and P-226 are my first loves. With all of the gun law weirdness going on in CA, I have taken to carrying Glocks for my street guns, because I won't be heart-broken when (not if) one of the current crop of idiot deputies or officers relieves me of it if I am called upon to defend myself at any level of involvement. I keep a VERY low profile in retirement, but with its law system operated like a catch & release bass lake--hairballs abound in this place. I had to dissuade a likely mugging attempt a couple weeks back. "Harmless homeless", my aspirations.
