Yeah, I guess it's pretty lame that I'm complaining about having friends, especially when one of them is my driver (and 'after procedure' guardian) for a colonoscopy next week ;)
...I just wish I could schedule their visits/calls so they are more spread out.

Saving seeds today.
I bought some red bell peppers last weekend and saved the seed. These flat looking things are one of the best tasting Red Bell's I've had. An amazing find for a grocery store Pepper sold in MN in January  They may be better than my own Ruby King's that I grow. After an extensive search, I am reasonably sure they will grow well here, and are open pollinated.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Well crap. I got the snow moved and got the engine warmed up nicely on the crawler. Went to put the new oil filter on, (it didn't get here till yesterday), and the interior of the canister was remarkably oil free. Hmmmm. So I checked the oil flow and got nothing at the filter. Nothing anywhere! I'm betting the little pin that drives the oil pump sheared from the moisture in the crappy, water contaminated oil that I just changed out the other day. Keep in mind I used it in the woods yesterday! Amazing it runs actually, but no more. I'll have to drop the skid pan and oil pan to get to the pump..... in my side yard.......in the snow....crap. Well, at least I got that salamander I can point towards the crawler while I'm under it. That way all the ice can melt and drip on me!

Oldest son Matt is coming tomorrow to help me move the tired iron I need to shift to another location so I can get the lathes where they need to be.

Really similar to mine but mine has digital readout and bleeps and bloops at me when I poke at it. Rather have the analog, to be honest.

The thermostat even seems to be correct. That was kind of surprising. I have to put it on air fry feature to get the convection part to work. It seems to run around 425°.

Just came in from doing some converting. I converted a couple of handfuls of new 38 SPL brass to once fired 38 SPL brass. Had them loaded with 160 grn SWC that I cast about 50 years ago. Those were propelled by 3 grns of Bullseye, ignited by CCI SPPs. Those and the little 1st Model Colt DS did a better job than I did. Hit the 8" steel at 22 yards 3 times out of 3 loads off-hand (once one handed). Still getting used to sighting with my left eye and didn't bother to double up on my anti-hand-shake med.
While the grip is a little small for me, I still love that little Colt. Shoot, I love all Colts.

Reckon I can load the rest of those bullets over 3 grns of Bullseye.

Bought the 6 1/2" Milwaukee M18 cordless circular saw. Man, why did I wait so long?

That is the only conversion I find enjoyable.

i grew the real big green peppers last year, the first bunch were 7-8"s long and they got a bit shorter as each new group come along,,, they were all good though... still eating the damn things.

i spent the day converting brass too.
i now have 114 new 25-20 cases,, or will after i check their length and don't have to trim them.... LOL
super simple 2 step process and 2 machines made it real easy.
open the neck with a 24 cal expander, lube, then a trip through the 25-20 size die.
probably do another 95-96 tomorrow to finish off the excess 218 cases.

Reply to my previous post: Used it to scrap four 2"X4"x6' and two 2"X6"X6's. It cut the 2"X6"X6's, today, quicker than the Craftsman scrap two 6' lengths of lath, yesterday.

So if my oven thermometer is correct, my 90/6/4 alloy will not stand up to 425 degrees for powder coat. Lol.
My last batch of a different alloy worked just fine.

Don’t forget that most thermostats allow the temp to cycle up and down. Set to 425 the temps my vary from 400 to 450 and average 425.
My PID has the power light on mine flickering on and off while the temps stays stable.
I use the same PID as I had for my pot, I drilled a hole thru the upper side of the oven and stuck a probe thru.

Interesting. I put my PID probe in my oven because it melted some of the bullets set at 400. (First time I used this used oven.) It went over 600. Set at 225 it would go to 400-430 , then shut off until it got back down to 225 then turn back on and go to 400 +. Time for new oven. I wonder if 175-200 degree spread is normal in these toaster ovens. It coated bullets ok at 225 setting but I don't like the extreme spread.

Mine doesn't do long cycles on the elements, it PWM's them constantly. I think it has a PID controller inside.
