Horrible day. I absolutely had to move the fence for the sheep/goats and that went badly, no need for details, it was just a mess. That was followed by an increasing amount of aches and pains and then additional labor trying to get equipment started, unstuck from where I planted it in a water filled ditch and then more fun hiking all over the 342 acres here when things ran out of fuel, etc. Eventually figured out I'd come down with some sort of bug. Hoping it's just 24 hour type of thing because I can't ID a specific part of my body that isn't currently aching! Probably trying sprint after loose livestock at 62 yoa didn't help, even if the "sprint" was more of a fast jog.

Stacking wood, cutting wood, cleaning up woods roads by cutting roots and throwing rocks off the trail. More wood cutting, splitting and stacking. Done with that for the day and we are both minorly achy. But, the good news. While we were doing all of that physical labor the pellet grill was slowly cooking baby back ribs for our Supper and they are scheduled to come off in 5 minutes!

I was told the old door knobs were "ugly".
Yep, it's the But It's Ugly Syndrome.

A zillion years ago I replaced the front door and lock set/dead bolt with one my wife said wasn't ugly. Then, a few years ago, the lock set/dead bolt suddenly became ugly so I replaced it with a non-ugly one of her choosing. I think it was about that time, too, that the threshold's finish became ugly. Now I'm in the midst of a kitchen painting project that became more involved because of "You know, I've been thinking . . . ". Then yesterday the colors of the three bedrooms became ugly.

She did say that I can wait till Spring to paint the outside of the house.

462 Isn't it about time to hand her a paintbrush. An tell her to go for it.
Just a bit ago, sitting at my puter. A dangdable Falcon flew through the yard. Between them and the Bobcats. They don't leave me much in the way of bunnies or grouse.

got up early enough i got to watch all the workers at the wheeler shop come to work.
wouldn't have been so bad but the shop guys get there a good half earlier than the guy that works the counter.
so i talk to him, he sends me to the parts orderer/take a number and i'll get you in in about 10-12 days dude.
jeez man all i want is a battery and an oil change.
siiigh nevermind where's the dude that sells me parts?
new battery [much easier to change on the trailer BTW] and 10 minutes instead of an hour and 10 minutes on the ground later.
rum, rum, vroom whoa that's the easiest it's ever started, wonder what it's gonna be like when the battery is fully charged?
battery was also about 30 bucks cheaper than the napa store.

just crazy, it sat in a shed all winter when it got to nearly negative 30,and it fires right up,,,, but 2 nights below 35 and the battery is toast?
whatever,,,, i'm just glad to have it going again.
afterwards i thought about should have bought 2 of those batteries for 70 bucks and threw one in the other wheeler or at least had it on the shelf.

Oh yeah, the words the strike fear into every mans heart- "Honey, I was thinking...". Whatever follows will result in untold hours, weeks, years perhaps, of unrelenting labor. And then when it's finally done, you're told it's "dated looking", "out of style" or, my favorite- "boring". It's paint on a wall! How can it be "boring"?!! Men are from Mars, etc.

Hoping to have a better fay today than yesterday...or just keel over and take the dirt nap! SWMBO was up barfing last night but she went to school anyway. I'd guess there's a better than even chance she'll be back home in a hour or so. Whatever the bug was, I seem to have passed it through and feel decent, if a bit achy. Should be off to town when things start opening to pick up that hose for the Bobcat. Hope I can figure the size near perfect. Also got the call the GMC is ready, again. 'Ol Wayner my mechanic says he got the same cold start stumbling/misfire I do, but nothing shows on the scanner and he's stumped. I'm going to try chasing grounds when I get it back...soon as I have time anyway.

One of the problems with gun safes is that whatever gun you need will always be hidden way in the back where it's lost in the forest of barrels and stocks. I know I have not one, but two! Rem 511's and also a 510 in there. I can't find any of them!!! That is most definitely a 1st world type problem. Or maybe it's a "gun nut" problem. There is something to be said for the good old days where guns could be safely displayed on the wall in the den or where ever you put them. :headscratch:

Have you ever seen a better looking wall than that of a white canvas wall tent? Dirt floor is okay, maybe an old pice of rug next to your bunk. Oh and lighting by Coleman. Then the piece de resistance, aroma therapy, coffee on the wood stove.

My internet has been out for a couple of days.
I got over my withdrawals and back online this morning.
I am going to increase the number of garlic I grow this year.
I have been planting for the last 2 days.
Got in 4 rows 30ft long of Italian planted.
I will be planting the music today.
Don`t think that there are enough cloves to get 4 rows, 3 maybe.
Then comes the elephant garlic.
The cantaloupe are winding down.
The tomatoes a cukes are still loaded.
I`m hoping to get a bunch ripened before the first freeze.

The chimney got swept yesterday morning. I hate climbing around on that steep roof, but got it done. I also made a sooty mess on part of the living room carpet, good thing I am a bachelor.
First fire in the stove last night...very satisfying.

Today, I hope to start the food cellar shelf reconstruction project. It'll probably take several days, and I finally got all my other more important projects done and the weather outlook is pretty good for the rest of the week. So all evidence points in a positive outcome.

Side note about weather:
Seems when there is a hurricane wizzing around in the South and/or East USA, MN's weather goes into a holding pattern and is usually fair weather. So the picture perfect weather yesterday, will be the weather today and all the following days until the hurricane wizzes out. I mention this as, MN's weather is usually a constantly changing fickle type of thing.

Problem with new knobs on old doors is they changed the size of new stuff. Shim the knobs or they will get real loose after about 6 mo of use.
Don't tell me anything about outside house painting.

Jon, just raise the highs about 10 degrees and that's weather we're supposed to get. Our forecast lows are roughly the same.thumbs up.gif

I got my lock work done at the local Home Hardware store. Took the old locks in and had the new keys fitted. Locks were for my cabin that is 30 some miles from the store and I certainly am not going to pay a locksmith for a "house call"!

When we retired in 2004, we moved to Kamloops. Gail had three conditions for moving here First: a riding lawn mower (she has used it maybe 3 times). Second: Air conditioning (works great). Third: A home that does not need anything (we bought a trailer that is really a modular home). The fact it sits on a steel frame along with some design build-ins makes it a trailer. The interior is paneled in some sort of pre-finished, plasticized stuff. About two years in we are sitting in the front room, and she says, "I would sure like to paint these walls". "Can't" says I "these panels are pre-finished and won't hold paint". "You wanted a finished place, and we got one so----" Now I don't know if these walls will take paint or not and I hate painting----but it works for me!

Looked at the two cords of wood sitting in front of my garage door, then looked at the cord that is left over from last year. Really need to rotate the older dryer stuff out an put the new stuff in the back. Cleaned out the old little freezer, a new larger one was delivered this afternoon. Now to decide what I/feel like doing next, look at the ice chests filled with frozen food and meat, or look at a pile of firewood. Back is sore where I bulged a disk a year ago, think I over did it over last few weeks, left thigh cramped up at night, sharp pain though the knee, feels just like last year when I buggered it, nerve root getting impinged.

Well the weather wasn't much better, but I got some stuff done! Went and got that hose for the Bobcat and spent probably an hour and a half measuring every conceivable way I could think of before committing to the chop saw. Even then I had to grind off another 1/4" or so. But, it appears to be as close to "right" as I can get it. Certainly not a cheap fix, but I think it will work- if I got everything lined up right! I'll have the loose end crimped in town tomorrow. Got a mess of other little jobs and a couple semi big ones either done or worked one too.

Stopped by the garage to pay for the latest work on the GMC. Got talking with the guys and throwing observations and ideas around and Ol' Wayner said he'd been messing with it this AM and noticed the Mass Air Flow doohicky was an aftermarket, and a pretty cheap one at that, and not a factory piece. He hunted around but didn't have a good used one on hand. I've read up on these things a little and it sure seems like that could be the issue. I dunno if it's worth going with GM OEM or if maybe a Delphi is good enough. Maybe someone here has experience with these things?

Managed to hit the discount supermarket at the perfect time and landed several pounds of sweet Italian sausage at half price! The one downside to Atkins is the diet gets pretty boring. Sausage makes a nice change from hamburgers, especially if I do a good job grilling them!
