so waht ya doin today?

Ian, it's so sad your daughter has to experience such a loss, and I hope she can bear it.

Having witnessed two 500 year flash floods here back to back in 2007 and 2008 from just 7" of rain, I cannot begin to imagine doubling that amount of rain and more! One of our big issues was land slides. Steep hills with thin top soil over sandstone and limestone.
My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones, and I pray more of the missing will be found alive and returned to their families.

Kid took off for his girlfriend's last night.
So just a quiet night with the wife.
On the porch, watching the fireworks they put on at the private lake community above the house. Last night.

Today after hiding from the sun, and work.
Found out the IGA in the next town was having a meat clearance where they over ordered for the 4th. Starting tonight at 6:00.
So we jumped in the Jeep and headed over there.
85/15 hamburger for $2.98 lb.
Pork butts for $1.50 a lb.
Chicken thighs, $1.25 a lb.
All dated to expire tomorrow.
So ...
Just spent $225 on meat about a 150 lbs) for the deep freeze. Getting ready to sit down make patties cut pork steaks, and brake it down into freezer bags. Then rotate the freezer.

Getting settled.in the escape from work for a week room . Of the last 38 hr I've slept 6 , worked 24 and spent 5.5 in a car to go 3.5 hours and 163 miles away. Tired it a mild understatement. Mrs went to top off the perishables ,
Buddy and I are catching up on some Pepa Pig before my eyeballs fall completely into the back of my skull .

Ian my condolences to the families you know and yours . It carries a sincere thought but seems somewhat inadequate for the events so close to home .

I feel like Duke and the leaky window. Started in on cleaning the mess from countless projects in the shop, throwing a way a bunch of crap I'll never use, organizing small parts in bin boxes, and cleaning to make way for the next half-dozen or so major gun projects which are on the itinerary/docket. Back is still royally screwed up but I have a spine doc appointment first thing Monday in the big city, hopefully he'll be able to convince my insurance that an MRI is needed, my PCP's request was denied because I "declined physical therapy" as a first action. I don't want to manage the pain, I need to know what exactly is causing it so THEN we can work out a treatment plan, not spitball all the usual cheaper things hoping I will go away. Anyway, in the meantime I can putter around in my mess and try to make some sense of it so I can start thinking about the next gun to build.

I keep thinking about Buckshot calling his shop "the wreck of the Horus", I certainly think that applies here.

Ian just move slow like a old man, sorry for your bad news 4th

found a minty early pre model 10 S+W in 30/25 5 inch BUT with ca stupids 20% sales tax and fees was not worth it better to buy on C+R out of state. But got me thinking I need one but Question? do does 30/25 bottle neck in a revolver have odd ball reloading problems like set back jamming gun? or crimp crushing case etc?

I was up in the reloading room today, looking for an item and ya know, before I can start the next reloading batch of "whatever", I should do a cleaning/organizing as well. Weeks back, when I discovered the bad RL12 powder can, I had to move everything into a pile that was sitting near enough to get some powder spilled on it ...I cleaned up powder, but the "pile" of everything remains on the middle of the desk, LOL. Part of that pile was stuff from Sept 2024 gunshow (tools/items/notebook/labels), haven't put away yet, LOL....now that is lazy.
