I have problems keeping grass alive half the time and then keeping it out of places I don't want it the other half.
I'm either fertilizing it, sowing it, pulling it or trying to kill it.
I can't get it to grow in the dirt on the side of the house but it has no problem growing out in the pea gravel/cinder rock next to the road where it never gets any water.

I'm hoping those trees just stay alive.
I don't much care either way if they give me fruit or not, but a little shade and as decoration would be nice.
they were marked down from 70$ to 20.99 so I figured I'd give them a try.
I kind of figure the next year or two will be us just throwing stuff in the boxes and seeing what grows and what doesn't.
I'm aiming at more hardy type plants out there and letting the wife deal with the other stuff on her side.
if it doesn't show -30 for cold I won't even bother with it, it's just figuring out what can handle 4' of snow.

Got up early and got the lawn mowed. It was cloudy this morning so it wasn't too hot. Got it done, again.
Yesterday the wife dry rubbed a beef brisket and I got it smoking now. Never done brisket before, so this is a new experience. The dry rub is a mix of spices that the wife has developed over the years and I used hickory and apple for smoke. (We like that flavor profile.) Should be good.
Also shot 4 magpies this morning. I dislike magpies.

I worked today. Got home, got a little to eat and am now relaxing.
Starting to look seriously at milling machines.

Went out to breakfast, from there to gun show here in town. Didn't find anything that I couldn't live without but oddly didn't see any of insane prices that were kinda common at shows for awhile, things like a NIB Ruger 10/22 for $1800.00. Came home and took a nap. It was a tough day but I'm resting up now.

Put a new blade on the lawn mower. Cleaned the kitchen for the missis.
We are trying some new foods. I'm making spicy ground lamb burgers for dinner tonight.
It's a Lebanese dish. Ground lamb, green onion, curry, cumin, red pepper flake, salt & pepper, garlic.
These will be severed on a grilled ciabatta bun with fetta cheese, red onion slices, baby spinach leaves along with a cucumber yogurt dressing
and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar.
We have a Greek orzo side dish along with Humus and pita chips.

put some Dalmathas and Baklava together too,,,, I'm on the way.

I just got the last of the tar off my hands, but Littlegirl's driveway is sealed, the cement is done and the fence is back in.
I got the other side of the sprinkler system roughed in and the holes dug for the tree's, then I flat run out of gas.
I'm gonna have to go down and get the planting soil tomorrow, think I will go shooting for a bit then come home and put the trees in the ground.

I'll strip the forms and build the hangers for the sprinkler system Monday and maybe start putting it together depending on how hot it gets.
hopefully I will be done with the whole thing by Friday-Saturday and can move on to something else that needs attention.

I hauled the trailer load of brush to the dump, got the water trough, went to the next town for fence supplies, and got back to the ranchette before 10. Coffeed up again ad drug out the welder and plasma torch, notched more pipe braces, cut some panels for the entrance, and spent the rest of the day burning rods in the hot sun. I'm really liking the 6013 5P+ rods for this rusty pipe, they're sparklers and I set myself on fire twice with them welding above my head, but they really boil out the rust and are easy to control. Also very low smoke compared to 6011.

Between dealing with the brush, hauling tools, materials, and pipe, and burning another six pounds of rods in the midday sun, I'm pretty much done in for a few days.

Because my whole property is grown over with first and second growth juniper and I can't seem to get enough land cleared to safely burn without an incident like Bill is dealing with in Colorado. Big chippers are expensive to rent...and more work than hauling it off.

Still deciding on exactly what tooling to use on turning necks on the new 223 brass..... have several choices. So,had to settle for CB blasting the ole 700V 6mm..... I'm done posting group sizes. Bug holes.

Not much going on today..... shoot up the last of the "wore out brass" 223's. Then throw it all in the trash.

True Lebanese dish is using raw ground lamb mixed with a grain that I don't recall.................called kibbie (or some such). My father had a Lebanese friend. That's the way they ate it.................I want mine cooked, Thank You.

the sparkler comment reminded me of the time I handed the FIL one of the old 1970's sparklers instead of a welding rod.
his helmet was one of the old school can't hardly see through the damn thing ones and he couldn't figure out why the sparkling was coming up the rod so fast and he kept jamming it in more and more.
I thought he was gonna smoke the welder and that rod was glowing like it was about to burst into flames itself.
I turned off the welder and he lifted his hood just in time to see the rest of the sparkler stuff ignite all at once.
god he was mad...

Pretty uneventful outside neck turning new 223 brass. Worst cases got about an 80% cleanup.Little 600 grit wet/dry ,giving it a quick turn by hand to smooth them out and all's good. Shot the 14.5g 4198 loads..... same ole same ole, first 3 into a raged hole then factory barrel wonks and they loosen up.Over a period of three days, you could shoot a braggin,9 shot group however.Which in hunting circles would be pretty much, perfect?Target work ain't gonna happen with hammer forged factory brrls.

Interesting, going from 14 to 14.5 didn't change group size but did change location. Former at 12:00,14.5 moved the hole(3 shots) to 9:00...... about 3/4" lower and about same to the left.

Got some quality bench time with the 700V 6mm.
