Is the “roof” over the office area strong enough to use for storage? Usual space for old invoices and tax stuff. First real summer job my kid has was tarring roofs. You learn real fast what you don't want for an occupation! Worked with a guy from up north that hated graphite slopping high pitched slate roofs. Cleaning gutters is best done from a ladder with a backpack blower. NOT from the roof where you must lean over the edge to see what you are doing!

Most likely, plus the many bags of packing materials and all the cardboard boxes that we have saved for reuse.

Fog rolled in a few minutes ago and a stand of cypress trees, about 75 yards distant, have all but disappeared.

Ah, coastal living. We are far enough away from Big Blue that moist air doesn't often visit here and cause fog-ups. We are alleged to be getting rain here from late Tuesday through Thursday. I won't risk folding money on any such wager, but it might help put an end to wildland fire season hereabouts. That would be a good outcome.

Ah, clear skies.
I don't mind the fog too much, unless it's the chill-to-the-bone kind which this morning's was.

I've been working on a carport to room conversion . Almost there , step son took the rest of today's matierials to work with him .......
I'll be able to get the reloading monster out of the living room when the walls are closed up . We snagged the surplus insulation from Mom's place ........almost none suitable for walls , got about 8" worth for the ceilings . The guy from across the highway comes over a says " hi I'm Bob . Do you need or want some insulation . I got a bunch of that foam sheet like in the chicken houses ." How much ? " Just come get it " my kind of price . So the 12×12 room has 2 1/4" of R Max on the walls and 8" of fiber glass for the ceilings . Unfortunately that's about 1/3 more than the rest of the house . One wall is almost all window , sun warming in the winter as they face dead south 28" of eves so very little sun in the summer . With the house face wall mostly finished as is , the 87 cans of misc stuff will go out today with the "make do" bench .

The last of the 6 calibers of empties will go into the tumbler after lunch. (44 Magnum). I still can't remember when I fired some of this stuff off. "A long stinkin' time ago" is my best estimate.

I should have a box of 30-06 brass [approx. 1-K] sitting at the P.O. today or Monday.
I don't know why I bought them, I'm pretty sure I don't need any more 30-06 brass.
I guess having 1-K once fired cases delivered for just under 75$ was too much temptation for me to pass up??
maybe I just like having them around so if I need to make cases for something else I can [shrug]
I will probably just sort them, clean them, process and store them until someone does need them.

Good grief, haven't seen a deal like that in 20 years. Last '06 brass I bought was some 1F LC-69 in the original cardboard boxes. Pretty sure I paid more than $75 and if was only 500.

that's a sweet price, I would have bought them, if I had the opportunity, and I surely don't need any more -06 cases.

Not that I need them, but for that price I could be easily tempted.
Recently, I gave the local gun store $15 for 100 new Winchesters (estate sale) and thought that was a steal.

I think I bought just 20 Lapua cases one time for an experiment. Likely I have well over 1,000 cases of various mfg.. Back when Timber passed I had a 20MM GI ammo can that was in good shape and full of 30-06 brass. Put all that brass in 3 50 cal. cans so that the 20MM can could house Timber's ashes. He's here in his ammo can next to my parade saddle in the living room of the new homestead.

Timber must have been huge. They fit my 6'2", 250-lb father-in-law into a sack that would fit in a large coffee can.

We told them not to put him through the grinder. He's in a mylar bag in the ammo can. Have to have room for Tasha some day and I'm thinking about having my ashes put in there with them. I like the idea of the money I leave behind not being wasted on a casket, an urn, a plot or a headstone.
I'd just as soon leave instructions for the wife and boys to take that money, go out and each buy a new gun for themselves.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Spent yesterday in the woods. well, the edges of the woods actually. Got in a couple loads of wood. Mr Chainsaw still makes my back hurt. Must be there was no miracle cure over the summer. There was a time I could run the saw all day and never feel it. Not anymore! Also spent some time just sharpening a couple of the favorite saws. Gords Echo 670 came with this odd style raker (depth gauge) I've never seen before. It's a sort of folded over affair, not just the shark fin most use. It's not a safety chain, but it's the only one I've seen like it so far. Luckily, my raker filing gauge just clears it width-wise and I got them straightened out. Saw cuts like a demon now. Did the same to the Jonsered 630, but found I still need to dress the bar back to level. There's something oddly satisfying about sharpening a saw and seeing it cut many, many times better. I also got the JD crawler and cleared all the snow off our wood cutting area. Pushed the remaining "green" stuff we'd blocked into a pile to unstick from the ground and split that up. Then I pushed/dragged the last 2 red oak logs I'd cut last year into place for cutting today- I hope.

Finished the day off with burgers and watched "Quigley Down Under" with the girl kid. She loved it.
