Have any of you conducted “The Purge” on your loading area?
I've been thinking of melting 1550 NOE 311169s, and giving the approximately 200 that are sized and lubed to my son-in-law.

The Purge.

Happens roughly on an annual basis, and has been going on for 30+ years. Its pace accellerates prior to and just after moving. Tools aren't often part of it, but castings get hard looks and are subject to either re-ingot-ing or reformation into more useful forms.

I was all set to do another sell-down at a gunshow that was supposed to take place last weekend but that of course never took place. I need to cut my load in about half of what I currently have so I can move into a smaller place. We'll see how things are when our emergency winds down.

too cold to mow the lawn.
besides I'd have to shovel the new 3"s of snow off it first.
probably be 4 or 5 inches by tomorrow morning the way it's been going all day.

oh. the next thing that will be in short supply is gonna be home interior hardware.
the SIL tells me he has seen just about everyone in town in the ACE store buying new door knobs, various trim pieces, faucets, cabinet hinges, toilet seats, and gallons upon gallons of paint.

What state? I can always use reloading supplies.

We took advantage of the local supermarket's Tuesdays and Thursdays old people hours, and replenished our stock of fresh vegetables and other short-lived perishables. We didn't need much, but decided to make a run before the weekend hordes and their continued panic buying. The meat section was fairly well stocked except for spiral-cut hams (our traditional Easter dinner), paper products were minimal, but still no eggs. Employees and customers were polite and keeping their distance, the checkout area was marked at 6' intervals, and there were acrylic splatter shields in front of the checkers.

The sun was out, so we did a bit of yard work, before the weekend's scheduled rain, then it was time for lunch.

Couldn't remember if I'd stoned the usual rough edges of the New Model Blackhawk and New Vaquero's hammer struts, so decided that would be a simple, quick and easy before dinner project. After I got them apart and saw that I'd already stoned them, I went at them, again, just because. The New Vaquero's medium-size frame sure has me stimulus-check-lusting for one of Ruger's 4 5/8" .44 Special flat tops, built on that same size frame.

Yesterday I sowed 4 acres of grass the cows had torn up this winter.
Then I went ahead and planted 20 lbs of seed potatoes.
Back to the refinery to work again today.

Finished spreading the 14 ton of gravel, I had delivered Monday. Had the driver spread about half the load. Other half, dumped in a pile, up at the gated entrance. Needed that for touch up from construction/destruction the Bobcat created.

No purging needed here. However, I do have a five gallon bucket of 44 cal and 45 cal, lubed and sized SWC's, that I cast over 20 years ago. Eventually, I may shoot them up. Too many projects, seem to get in the way.

Too many projects. That is exactly what happens to me. Over time different projects go from the back burner to no burner to “what is that for” status.

I tend towards being a one mould for one gun kind of guy. Even more so I tend to use a single load for a single gun. Previous bullet designs are then remelted as I no longer use them and need the space they take up.

What am I doing today? Staying home at least until this stuff thaws.
Got freezing rain starting yesterday evening, before I left work, and it didn’t end u til, this morning. Woke up to the sound of sleet on bedroom window.
We have a nice sheet of ice on everything. Likely a good 1/8” or more. Roads and other horizontal surfaces have an additional layer of sleet on top of that.

Seventy five and sunny, yesterday. Perfect, except for the brisk wind. Comfortable for outside labor............like slinging gravel. Rain, today and tomorrow but it is Spring............time to reload 9 mm and change the line on a half dozen fishing reels.

Parents, don't live forever. Had nothing keeping me in Michigan. Have a sister, there but we aren't that close. Took her four years, before she made a trip down to see our place. That was only because she had a cross stitching get together in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

back to winter.
it looks like that storm broke up around midnight and only left about 5"s of snow behind.
on top of the other stuff from the day before.
I almost got to see the entire yard not covered in snow for the first time this year before it hit though.

Week 3 Day 7

Sun is out but not warm. 29° this morning. Going out when it warms up a little and get the secondary water system ready for the year. Water comes back into the canal April 15.

Little welding repair job today for a local fruit grower. The farm equipment that gets torn up by migrant workers is horrendous.
