Sounds better Ian. My cardiologist took 60 days to get back to me about my results from EKG. Went to Mexico on vacation. Somehow seems our health is not at the top of their agenda.

This is a systems problem. The system is set up so that a single person being out of the offfice stops everything.
Nobody else could deliver the results of an EKG? Nobody else could read the notes and get back to Ian?

We have a system with major communication flaws. We don’t need better doctors, we need a better system.

And more doctors. Most European countries have several times more doctors per capita than does the USA, and their pharmacists have a FAR wider range of action than do USA pharmacists. That was called a CARTEL where I once worked. Don't get me on THIS soap box.

Ahem.

Mixed news on the cast bullets that came lubed and sized in the estate sale......the #457193s were sized at .457", rendering them useless for my 45/70s. They test at BHn 13-14, so they will be civilized into something more useful at a later (and cooler) date. There might be 120 of those. The MUCH BETTER NEWS--at least 1500 of the Lyman Devastator 44 caliber HPs, sized at a fat .431". In Bizness!

Couldn't agree more Brad. In my case anytime a test was done outside the VA system, results were lagging on responses. Anything done in a VA facility was "Johnny on the Spot" fast. I'd be willing to bet you a case of primers, you could blind fold me, put me in a helicopter, and drop me in a hospital and I could tell you whether or not it was a Va or civilian facility in 10 seconds. Better stop there.

A better system in which the clerical personnel would return our calls, or call back when they said they would.
Recently, I fired a practicing nurse, because she twice didn't return my calls, regarding the results of an MRI she'd ordered. The doc she works under is well papered, but his East Indian accent is quite difficult for my hearing aids to decipher.
My V. A. experiences have been limited to hearing exams and aids tuning, vision exams, and the seeing the doc about once every three years. However, everyone, from the office staff to the docs, have been very professional, polite, courteous and efficient.

Well got the grass mowed and made 2 trusses for the shed. So got a little done today. Wife must want something because she is telling me to go back and buy that 620.
What she don't know is that if I buy it, I will need to shoot low light loads thru it. So I will have to get a shotgun shell loader, dies wads, shells, Gallon of blue dot, Maybe build a shot maker Then find a GI Slug barrel. Get a slug mold, and on and on and on.

had I not sent all of my mec's off to some 4-H club down in Texas I'd mail you one.
I had 6 different ones doin me no good.
I had taken one apart and made a powder dump out of it when I was loading a bunch of buck shot.

oh,,,, and you can use Unique just fine in buck shot loads.
aaand you can cast buck shot fast enough to make a good pile of shells in one afternoon.
easy peasy to graphite and round off in a case tumbler too.
anyway.
whatever you do don't buy the LEE loader.

picked some stuff out of the garden this morning and ended up getting wrangled into taking the wife and G-boy down to Pocatello so his mom and dad could look at some SUV type vehicles.
they ended up getting a Hyundai sumthin or other with about 40-K miles on it for a reasonable price.
I think it was a bit over their upper end of what they wanted to pay, but it looks to be a fairly solid little vehicle that should be a good family car for them.

Geez I got a half keg of Herco that needs a home. Why is it that I'm like six small countries away from everyone on the board?

I kind of like the MEC stuff, sitting on a 50+ year old 600 jr 20 ga, a 700 Versa Mec 12 ga, a sizemaster 16 ga, and a Grabber 12 ga. Reminds me I need to start hitting the skeet range regularly to get ready for a South Dakota trip this fall.
Rally's experience with the late test results reminds me of my mother with thyroid problems way back when. Local dr did some tests and prescribed thyroid pills. She kept calling to get the results of the test and they finally told her he had gone on a skiing vacation. When they finally got back with the results it was cancer. She immediately went to a specialist in the closest larger town, Bartlesville Ok, and they threw a fit. Seems the pills necessitated a delay of a mnth to get the medicine out of her system before they could treat or operate. Luckily she made it threw that one along with 3 other unrelated types of cancer over a 30 year period. The 5th one at age 82 was more than she was willing to deal with. Sure miss her.

After the brief plain base test yesterday morning we went for a MC ride. Not real far from us is a spot called the Mindoro Cut. It is the largest hand hewn rock cut for a road in the U.S. Done in 1907/08. 74 ft. tall. 25 ft. wide, and about 40 yards long. All done by hand and the debris hauled by horse drawn conveyance. Nice curvy road leading to and from it as well. By the time we got home we had 200 miles on. Stopped at a bar in Mindoro called Top Dawg's and had the best root beer float in a long time, maybe ever!
Today looks to be another beautiful clear day and while I have dozens of things I could be doing the bike often gets our nod.

Yep.
It's directly behind where I was standing, when I took the picture of Turn 2.
In the picture below, you can see the entrance road leading off to the right and slightly downhill.

LOVED and miss that range! 300 yds! The 24" gong still at 200 yds? Ran off two guys with scoped 30-30s one day that couldn't range it/hit it. I was ringing it regularly (4 of 5 shots) with my Ruger SBH 44 mag 10 1/2" bbl and irons. was shooting 265 grn RN. Once I got it ranged, it was easy!

At one time, there were 250, 300, 400, and 500 gongs and their bunkers. Then, a spectator at a non-spectator race made a very dubious and unsubstantiated claim that a bullet landed near him while standing at Turn 2, so they were all dismantled.
The range master (a Sandbox vet) walked the hillsides looking for evidence that people were shooting at anything other than their targets, and concluded that they weren't, and that it was impossible for a bullet to have landed where it was said to have, even if aimed in that direction.
The longest range, now, is 200-yards, and plywood blinds were added to prevent anyone purposely aiming beyond that 200-yards.

Did Some shooting this morning with My GEW....Been about a 1 year but everything went were they were supposed to! Not bad 10 shot targets 326-130gr FN NOE 5 grains Red Dot! 50 yds Low Node A few ragged one holers with receiver sights.

Although it was hot and humid as all heck decided to cast some Lyman 358495 wadcutters ....My buddy, this morning gave me his mould to try... It really cast beautiful.... but mould was running hot...a lot of hot alloy in a small block of steel!
Had to pace myself but got about 180 pieces in 45 minutes

Day 19: Knee rehab and Garlic harvest.

Maybe a perfect weather day in Minnesota. 65º this morning and not too humid as the sun was rising at 6am...when I started digging my 400+ garlic plants.

Windy (my cat) wasn't crazy about the wet grass at the golden hour, but she always has to be where I am

:p

A bumper crop for sure. After the last few years of poor garlic crops, I am glad to see such good looking bulbs as I was digging them up. The size of some of these are larger than I've ever seen for this this variety (Chesnek Red). Although, Half were planted this spring (instead of last Fall), and of course, those are small, but still will be very good eating.

Harvest is complete, I think I trimmed, tied and hung the last bunch around Noon. I took several breaks for water, as well as my Knee needing them. I also got to try out a new pair of boots for this project, luckily they didn't give me any blisters

Ian, Me too. I've love to find a new home for the spare 'gallon' of Blue Dot I have laying around.

Good going, Jon! I used to grow onions and garlic (and garlic leeks) as a kid here, pull and dry same as you. That and tomatoes and a few beans is about all the weather would allow. Looks like you won't have any vampires for about six blocks any direction for quite some time now.

Ian don't be throwing threats like that around . It doesn't take much more than loose gas money for me to road trip .

Mitty I'd need to look it up etc but I think I have a spare MEC . Might even have the large shot kit in it .
