I set about doing a tool inventory of the reloading stuff with replacement costs original new when tagged or recently purchased with notes about source where appropriate . Holy hamburger helper !!!!! 63 sets of dies and I haven't added Dad's stuff into this yet . Im not sure why I bought the 3rd set of 45-70 RCBS dies when I had a Redding and RCBS FL and Seaters with FDCs and a Lee expander . I know why I have 3 sets of 45 Colts 1 of them is steel , the 45 ACP duplicate is easy the Lyman chrome set is nicer to work than the Lee carb and the gutted FDC is in the Colts boxes . I wonder if I should sell off duplicate sets when I get Dad's stuff added into the mix ......then I remember that a couple of the kids are into it when they escape Uberlopolus .

Wow , the presses have come down ! Wow dies have gone up ! Even in the last 6 months when did Lee's get to be $41 ? It's a good thing most of my moulds were 2nd hand . Man I must be saving a mint because there's a fortune in tools . I didn't get to the pots , ladels etc ........ $5000 already ......

waco - Dan Wesson Vigil. Alloy frame 5" 1911 set up for suppressor. Tall night sights
and threaded barrel. Huge deal on "blem" - literally the wrong finish on the frame for
a Vigil model. New in box. 3 lb trigger, as usual, zero play between slide and frame.
Ramped barrel. Aluminum frame feed ramps can be gouged by some kinds of JHPts with
sharp edges. Ruger has a Ti insert in the frame for ltwt Commanders, DW does ramped
barrels - think Browning HP feed ramp.

Bill that sounds like a nice piece. I have never owned or even shot a Dan Wesson of any kind.

DW 1911s are hand built, top quality 1911s. They factory is small, the output, last time I
talked to my friend at CZ only a bit over 4000 guns per year. Hard to find and train good
enough gunsmiths to hand fit every one, basically very hard to expand production.

Prices normally run from about $1250 up to $1700, which seems high if you imagine that the
competition is Kimbers and Springfield Armory 1911s. But it is not. It is Les Baer, Bill Wilson,
NightHawk Custom and Ed Brown 1911s - about the same for twice as much money.

CZ is in KC, we see "Blems" here, at better prices. Never could find an actual blemish
on one.

AC went down. 90 F this PM.... service guy got here within 30 minute of my calling,
new capacitor on compressor, one lb of freon and it makes cold again.

I love modern conveniences.

I was happy, although the price wasn't real low. At this point, I just wanted
my AC back on line. It was nice and quick, that is good.

I pay a local HVAC place (Carrier Dealer) $125.00 a year for a service contract. For that $125 I get a free bi-annual (spring & fall) complete inspection and should I need it I get an additional 2 free service calls during the 12 month contract. If they need to come out for anything I pay parts only, no service call fee and no labor charge.

Got the same sort of deal with a pest control company. I get 2 free termite inspections plus the biggie, they treated the place for termite control and if there is ever any termite damage they pay for repairs.

I have a sneaking suspicion that, in that area and climate, unless your home is constructed of ICF, a contract like that goes a long way toward allowing you to sleep soundly.

Dang Jimbo you must not have looked too hard.
hard to miss the big blue house, with a porch running the full length of it straight down the street from the family dollar.
not only that,, I was out front most all day messin around with the Boat.

hmm. what did I do today.
messed around with the front steps on the porch some, drank a couple of soda's.
talked to both of my neighbors about deer hunting, listened to a couple of CD's out on the porch while I was trying to decide whether to go fishing or bird hunting.
by the time I decided to go fishing it was too late to hook up the boat, so I took the new Hot-Pink $7.00 pole [now on sale at the Wal-Mart for $5.44 ] I bought to annoy Littlegirl with and threw it in the truck next to the shotgun.

I like this pole, 2 casts and 2 fish. [first 2 casts into water with it]
one abut 20"s and one almost 22"s right off the bat so I cleaned them and walked back up to the truck without even opening a soda.
threw the fish in the cooler and come home the long way up over the mountain where I see some birds from time to time.
nabbed a couple of doves I seen flit into a tree up ahead and walked them up getting both of them with 2 shots.
I then seen a couple of partridge crossing the road about 2 miles further up the road and jumped out, following them a little ways into the tall grass, flushing a small group of them,,,,, getting one of those.
on the way back down the other side of the canyon I managed to pick off a couple of grouse [and the edge of an aspen tree] I seen coming across the road and headed home for dinner.

I really like this time of year.

Work, short a person today. Did 9 flu shots before 2 pm. Got lots of mentoring to do with a couple new managers at other stores.
Plate is full but I know a larger plate will still just fill up.

Start digging around in inventory for a cpl new cleaning rod materials. Have made them before to include CF (carbon fibre) ..... which is the default if I can't rustle up the right size steel?

Looking on Sinclair website they have a very nicely done "kit" for cleaning rifle chambers. One is for the chamber proper, the other is for lug recess..... heck,I even like the green handles but seeing as we have right much crotchy black walnut,it gets the vote. The Sinclair kit is attractively priced at 40$ plus shipping I reckon? Still a non starter.

So,mow ancle deep grass.... weed wack.... fire form more 223's..... turn black walnut handles.... try not to dump 4198 into action with "stuck" jammed bullets on extracting loaded rounds. But if I do,woohoo.... get to use my new kit.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I have a contract with a good guy for my heating and AC too- me! I clean the chimney and I put the AC unit in the window for 3 weeks every summer. Wish someone worried about keeping me happy or paid!

Made some of the prettiest hay you ever saw over the past few days. Probably the nicest stuff I've ever made. Little tough getting it dry since my tedder is about done for. About killed me getting it in the barn. Blew out a knee a couple weeks back and rolled my ankle on the other foot over badly. Hard to limp on both legs! Went to an auction with the kids Saturday. Couldn't swing anything I was drooling over (65hp IHC 574 diesel tractor, running, with good rubber- $2100!) but did get another Adze (idiot auctioneer thought it was a grub hoe), a fairly nice leather welding jacket for summer work ( ie- it fits me, but just), some assorted hand tools and a nice little Echo chainsaw from the 80's. I've been looking for a little saw to carry when bush hogging and I have a sort of soft spot for Echos. I've had excellent service from the ones I own and have found them to be an under priced bargain. Yeah, they aren't all as cool looking as a new Husky or Stihl and they may be a little heavier and not rev up to 15K rpm, but they are very well built, reliable saws. The Japanese do just about everything mechanical very well and this line of saws is no exception. All it needed was a spring bent to make the trigger return. Started on the 6 or 7th pull from a dry tank. For $30.00, I'm happy.

One of my old night line partners stopped by yesterday. Been 5-6 years since I last saw him. The last of us from the old crew is retiring
and he was getting cards signed. Been 30 some years. The bodies have all given out and the patience left a couple decades ago. Now it's all kids whose parents were in grade school when we started. Time marches on.

That would never be a game here. The HVAC is whole house forced air AC and very much needed at least 8 months of the year not three weeks. The same unit is also heat for the other 4 months. Keeping that unit happy is quite important.

Going to the deer lease tomorrow. Being retired is great!
Need to go buy some Crimson Clover to plant and some corn for the feeders. Anyone hunt in east Texas sandy soil? I've never had luck with clover and need some advise on till free planting and fertilizing. I think the deer pull it up by the roots before it takes hold.
Also have to put a new ladder on the Camo Frog stand. It got its name because the guy who had this spot in the 80s built a stand and tried to camouflage it with paint. Turned out looking like a frog colored jitter bug or jerk bait, hence, Camo Frog Stand.
I built a new stand about 12 years ago, but the name had already stuck.

Hawk, just as a data point? We have small herds of deer in the yard. Over the years, trying to beat the woods back and slightly increasing yard size.....

Having cleaned/grubbed weeds n saplings.Once they're all gone I drag a toothed hillbilly cultivator around these edge sections.Pretty rich soil so being too cheap to buy seed or fertilizer,it pretty much is forget about it,grow or blow... don't care.

Give it a month or so,new sprouts start coming up... and every deer in the neighborhood is over here tearing the shoots up. Just an observation but,it don't matter what is planted, deer are gonna tear up any tender shoots?

New 223 ADL, groups start to open up @20 rounds.... by 30,they're toast. Keeping a round count in journal. Deep cleaned it,and going after it again. No leading to speak of,it's powder fouling. Using shooters choice, dry mop, then JB compound for 25 good brisk strokes, shooters choice and finish with dry mop.

Yup,reckon so.But how does that affect powder fouling? I'm at the point of not using any lube. The barrel is almost spotless.... the "lube star", ain't. Meaning the only thing on the muzzle is a small fouling star. What's interesting is,back at the chamber.... I can dial in how much blow back there is on the fired neck by changing jam.

New seater is stoopid easy to use BTW.
