If anyone is interested I'll ask Sue for her egg pickling recipe and share it here. Even the neighbor kid I shoot with loves them.

I was at Sylamore across from the archer catfish place. You must not have been far from there. The kids did have a ball on the loco ropes.
Did a little standing free hand rapid fire practice with the BO pistol. 50 yds. 170PB @ 1400 fps. Upper right after a few clicks left on the scope. Center aim point. Good enough for hogs.

We're about 40 minutes north of the Hwy 14 and Hwy 5 junction...........ate at that restaurant (Angler's) when we went down, to take a tour of the Blanchard Springs Caverns. We're actually on Hwy 5..................my mailbox, anyways.

We went to Blanchard, real cave is closed but she won't ride the elevator anyway. Kids skipped rocks for 1/2 hr. Then they went to Rush to see the fallen down buildings. Been there before so I went to the range instead.

I haven't been to Rush, a silver mining ghost town, Cindy's hiking group has been there many times. Her group hikes Sylamore's trails. She kayaks the White and the Buffalo River, a lot. They even venture up to Missouri, for both kayaking and hiking, depending on the season.

Just listed for 9 Bills. Junk car but it is a v8 convertible.
Killed a bunch of paper along with 5 kids and 4 other adults.
OK, proper English - 5 kids and 4 other adults killed a bunch of paper. And left a bunch of brass. One IS a lawyer! The 5yr old did shoot 5 rnds of 9mm, his sis shot more. Both had trouble reaching the trigger.
Rush was thought to be a silver mine but ended up it was zinc.

1st generation Falcon Chassis Mustang with a 289 v8 and a convertible top too. In seefoam green, with black interior. My dream car. If you get lucky and find the build sheet tucked in the chassi some where, some of them had "Lee" Lido Anthony Iacocca's signature on them.
If I had the cash, and was in that state,I would have the car.1606382208409.png

It sold quick. I seen the ad within an hour of posting, and copied the photo here minutes later. The ad was updated with "SOLD" less than 5 hours later.

An update on Mrs. smokeywolf's condition.

She's responding well to her meds. Had her first somewhat normal day yesterday. Have to check her blood pressure and pulse rate 3 to 5 times per day and log it in a journal. She's just now starting to get some quality sleep at night.
Quite the learning curve to eating the right foods in the right order to keep her blood sugar as stable as possible. Particularly as she's on a starting dose of her med. Her blood sugar was 129 this morning. Lowest since it was initially checked in the ER three weeks ago.

We're going to have a mostly salt-free, sugar-free, very unconventional Thanksgiving.

One of the features we had hoped for in a (2 level) retirement home was an elevator. With my back, hips, knees, I figured at some point in the future, stairs could become a challenge. When I asked the cardiologist about Mrs. S ascending stairs, he said she should probably avoid that for a few months. I was able to tell him, that's OK, we have an elevator.

Thanks again to all for your support and have a really super Thanksgiving.

R.J.

Happy Thanksgiving to all o' y'all!

SWMBO and I meant to go to San Diego for the holiday today, but we both caught some kind of cold or mild flu that started Monday. We both feel pretty good today, but didn't at all yesterday when we canceled with her sister. So we are "solo" today, the kids are all out-of-state and scared to come to Kalifornistan because of the lockdowns and closures imposed in some areas. So, a quiet holiday is in store for us. Some football on TV, simple home-cooked meals, maybe a little reloading in the mix.

the smoked and cooled turkey is in the warming/steam box for it's final stage.
got some sweet taters doing a long roast in the oven before they get peeled and mashed with a couple of carrots.
then they'll get hand blundered into submission in a hot pan on the stove top, some marshmallows and brown sugar tossed in to melt and some ground ghost- scotch bonnet peppers mixed in.
the whole thing will go in the fridge to cool before being packaged up for the trip to Littlegirls place where it will be re-heated.
[don't knock it till you try it]
the turkey will be bundled up and shuttled over there hot just in time for the table.

It is a GOOD thing God pays special attention to FOOLS - HUNTERS - and FOOLISH HUNTERS.
This afternoon i went out to cut our Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. And try and harvest at least 1 partridge for my Christmas meal. I didn't get one for Thanksgiving meal so i changed my plans to Christmas.
I ended up tracking a bear (in the snow) which i figured was headed to my deer gut pile. After about 100 yards i looked at the Ruger 10/22 in my hands and thought what in the H==L was I dooing. I keept following the tracks but i also started watching 360 deg. around me as much as ahead of me.
The bear did end up on my gut pile. At that point i left the tracks and went back to the task at hand. The tree and a partridge.
I did cross the tracks again which headed East from the gut pile.
